Kristen BF "Insecure" Over Robert Pattinson

Time for your daily dose of New Moon horniness: We told you yesterday that Nikki Reed and Robert Pattinson are most definitely not knocking relationship boots behind the scenes.

And we've pointed out some weird goings-on with R and our gal Kristen (happy belated birthday, babe).

So that left many of us wondering where Kristen's boyfriend, Michael Arangano, is during all of this very breathless Twilight back-and-forth. A friend to the "couple" spills:

"Michael is really insecure when it comes to Rob," 'fesses a pal close to the romance pentagon up north. We're told Arangano hardly laughs off Robsten rumors.

"Rob and Kristen would have to be very sneaky if they were dating. Everywhere [Kristen] goes, [Michael] now wants to go too. He's extremely jealous. And let's just say he's been trying to be up in Vancouver a lot lately," adds our Industry insider.

So where does that leave Rob then, if there's a third wheel around?

"By himself or with his publicist or manager, usually," we're told.

Disclaimer here folks: When we said yesterday that Robert "f--ks who he wants," we did not mean it necessarily in a man-whoring way. Doug Reinhardt he most decidedly is not. We love our Pattz! We simply meant that R will not go screw or date girls just because he's told to do so...à la other Twilight-ites.

We hear that Rob wanted to disprove that rumor so badly that he purposely tried to be photographed out with Kristen last week. Easier said than done. "He doesn't want [Kristen] or anyone to think he's dating Nikki."

God this stuff is so juicy! We'd way rather watch this romance crap on the big screen. Wouldn't you? Or should we wait to see New Moon before saying so? Nah...

Is Jamie Spears Too Controlling?

Jamie Spears is obviously doing a helluva lot better job at managing Britney and her career than Lynne ever did. But we think Camp Spears is treading OCD waters. Like trying to shut down B's No.1 fansite, BreatheHeavy.

We caught up with the site's owner, Jordan Miller, who thinks he knows what the whole debacle is really about. And we say he's dead-on.

"They don't want me speaking out about this conservatorship. It seems like Jamie Spears thinks he can do whatever he wants," dished Miller.

Apparently, Jamie 'n' Co. say the only way they'll allow the website to exist is if all posts go through them, first. "If they do that, it's not my website. It's just another website they can manage and control," J.M. rightfully bitched. Well, we're hearing that Jamie isn't only micromanaging B's career, but her love life, too. Find out who lights Britney's fire when daddy isn't looking:

Apparently, our gal was jonesing for her backup dancer Chase Benz. "I did hear that as soon as daddy left, [Britney] was all over him. But cannot confirm," spilled Miller. (And we hear from other sources that Brit herself, quite unlike the elder Spears, actually adores and sometimes directly contacts Miller).

Interview: The Dark Side of Laurie Strode

When Scout Taylor-Compton was younger, her uncle would don the iconic Michael Myers mask and scare the hell out of the actress. Years later, when she became a part of horror franchise history playing Laurie Strode in Rob Zombie's Halloween that memorable piece of latex and hair would come back to haunt her yet again. "I hate that mask so much," she says, her voice cut with an ounce of revulsion to prove her point. "By filming the movie, it freaked me out the first time, but now I'm used to it. It's not really scary."

The 20-year-old star of the highly controversial update of John Carpenter's film is reprising her role as Strode for Zombie's H2. And if you thought the mousy innocent high school student of the remake, who cracked sexual jokes using a bagel, was a departure from Jamie Lee Curtis' virginal representation of Strode, wait until you get a load of Taylor-Compton in the sequel.

ShockTillYouDrop.com joins the actress, post-dinner, on the set of H2 nearly five months before the film's August 28th release. It's a frigid night in Newborn, Georgia where the crew is shooting and she retires for a spell to her trailer dressed in a flannel robe, a humorous contradiction to the concealed display of sex appeal beneath: A black French maid's costume, shredded black stockings and pointy-toed boots. The ensemble is tied together by blood, literally from head to toe. Crimson streaks adorn her pale face like war paint.

"Do you mind if I smoke," she asks. I don't. There are cartons around the room. She finds a cigarette in one, but doesn't light it. Instead, she hops on a nearby counter and perches there with the cigarette in hand. "The first time I heard about Halloween 2, there were two French directors [inside's Alexandre Bustillo and Julien Maury] doing it and I was hesitant," she admits. "Then Rob e-mailed me and said, 'Hey, I'm doing this film but don't tell anybody, it hasn't been set down yet.' Then he called me and said, 'We're doing this,' and I hadn't read the script until the day before I was leaving. All he said was 'Be ready to kick ass.' I had no idea what the script was about until I read it on the plane. I had no idea what Laurie was going to go through, then I was like 'Holy shit, this movie's about me.' I guess I got to be prepared."

The actress says she was relieved two years had passed before she was asked back for the sequel. Although she has yet to experience the back-to-back filming some franchise films are wont to do, Taylor-Compton agrees time off from Strode was healthy - especially since the sequel also picks up two years later after her character was thrown from the second floor of a house with her masked brother. That's an experience bound to screw anyone up, Strode is no exception.

"It's just really intense what she's going through [in the sequel]," Taylor-Compton explains. "She's happy one moment and in the next she's yelling at the people she loves and she's crying. She's going through these bipolar moments. [Rob] definitely wanted to see my character go into these really dark places by little pieces here and there." The result surprised both the director and his actress. "I did this scene with Margot Kidder and we had to do both of her scenes in one day. The first scene is me with the psychiatrist expressing my feelings - and I just told Danielle Harris [Annie Brackett] I hate expressing my feelings. And then here I am developing this friendship with my psychiatrist, but then I just freak out and I go apeshit on her. I yell at her and scream at her and it was so empowering. Rob just looked at me and said, 'Oh my God, I didn't know you had that in you.' There are a lot of things I didn't know I had in me and discovered while I was filming this movie."

An outburst during a visit to the psychiatrist is just the tip of the iceberg. Strode, this time out, has emotional angst pulling at her on a myriad of levels. For instance, she's still in the dark on how she's connected to Myers when the film begins. "I don't know certain elements about it. I know all of my friends are dead, my parents are dead and it's two years later and here's this run down Laurie Strode. And she learns these things and it's more and more adding to her. She doesn't know how to deal with it." Her internal darkness materializes externally as shown in recent photos of Strode on the set that were posted by Zombie on his MySpace page. "Those are my boots and people online were saying they were white trash, and I was like 'Hey, those are my f**kin' boots!' She's messed up, what do you expect? The first time we were trying on wardrobe, the wardrobe people got it totally wrong and Rob came into the session and was like 'What the fuck, she's run down her family's been murdered, make her look grungy.' So we did and she totally kicks ass and I'm taking all of the clothes home with me."

Strode isn't the only one with a new look. Big bro Michael Myers (returning actor Tyler Mane) spends most of his time sans the jumpsuit and mask and sports a pretty impressive beard. "It's quite different. They had filmed with Tyler before me and I had heard things about a jacket and the mask. I hadn't necessarily seen it until two weeks into shooting. It was quite shocking, I think it's scarier than his look in the first one. It freaks me out a lot more than the suit and the mask. It's him trying to hide himself and it's a different emotion I think."

On this note, the unit publicist pops into the trailer and requests we wrap it up. Taylor-Compton apologizes for not being able to delve much further into the dynamic Strode shares with Myers this time out, but she teases, "It's something I don't think the audience is going to expect at all."

Hands in the air! Jennifer Lopez jumps out of her seat to dance at her husband's show

Jennifer Lopez enjoyed watching husband Marc Anthony perform so much that she just couldn't keep her world-famous bottom in its seat.

Her husband, who has sold 10 million albums, sings in both Spanish and English and is credited with revolutionising salsa music, was playing a one off show at the Hard Rock Hotel and Casino in Florida.

Seated with friends in a special VIP area right next to the stage, the star, who gave birth to twins a year ago, jumped to her feet as he sang, singing along and waving her BlackBerry in the air.

It's for you! J-Lo is still in her seat, but the excitement is building as she waves her phone in the air

Marc is not well known in the UK, but is very popular in the US, especially among the Spanish-speaking community. He has won several Grammy Awards.

But his music career appears not to be the most important thing in Marc's life.

The bilingual singer spoke enthusiastically last week of his desire to have more children as soon possible with J.Lo .
But sources claim Jennifer is reluctant to have more children in the near future, hoping to concentrate on her career once the twins are old enough and get back into the limelight, rather than returning straight to motherhood.

Having more children could pay off in a big way for Jennifer, if the benefits that came her way after the birth of the twins are anything to go by.

The couple sold the rights to exclusive pictures of their twins Max and Emme to People magazine for a reputed fee of $6million.

Not only that, but Marc decided to celebrate the births of their sons by giving her a $300,000 diamond ring.

Undaunted by the fact that everyone else was sitting down, J.Lo shook her well-known behind, showing off a fluffy grass skirt and some expensive jewellery.
Meanwhile, in his a light blue suit, a shirt unbuttoned down to his stomach, sunglasses and a diamond medallion swinging from his neck, Marc may have looked rather tacky to British eyes.
But to his fans - and his wife - Marc was the only show in town.

Buffy the Vampire Slayer star Sarah Michelle Gellar is pregnant, according to U.S. reports.

The actress, 31, and her actor husband Freddie Prinze Jr, 33, are expecting their first child together in autumn.

'They're very excited,' a source close to the couple told U.S. magazine People.

Freddie Prinze Jr. and Sarah Michelle Gellar

Gellar met her future husband Freddie Prinze, Jr on the set of the 1997 horror flick I Know What You Did Last Summer. They also starred together in the movie version of Scooby Doo.

They started dating in 2000 and were married in a lavish ceremony in Mexico on September 1, 2002.

Buffy

Gellar appeared in the hit series Buffy the Vampire Slayer

The ceremony officiated by Adam Shankman, a film director and choreographer with whom Gellar had worked on Buffy the Vampire Slayer.
Although she is best known by her birth name, the actress legally changed her name to Sarah Michelle Prinze in honour of the couple's fifth year of marriage in 2007.
Her most famous acting role was as the character Buffy Summers in the series Buffy the Vampire Slayer and its spin-off Angel.
Humorously, she once revealed she had a phobia of being buried alive, which made it 'really hard being an ass-kicking vampire slayer when you are afraid of graves'.
The actress ended her role as Buffy in 2003 after a seven-year run but has recently been rumoured to be planning a feature-length film.
She also had leading roles in Cruel Intentions, Scooby-Doo, Japanese horror film The Grudge and Scream 2.
Gellar will next be seen in theatres playing a suicidal woman in her mid-twenties in the film Veronika Decides To Die, set for release in the U.S. in November.

Emma Watson (who's only 18) shows off her party-girl credentials with a long night of bar-hopping

Emma Watson (who's only 18) shows off her party-girl credentials with a long night of bar-hopping

She only hit legal drinking age less than a year ago, but Emma Watson is quickly making a name for herself as one of London's biggest party girls.
The pretty Harry Potter star kicked off the Easter Weekend with a spot a club-hopping at her favourite haunts.
After spending the night partying at Whisky Mist in Mayfair and Bungalow 8 in nearby Covent Garden, a dishevelled Emma staggered home at 2.30am.

Wearing a chic black and white t-shirt dress and black heels, Emma looked younger than her 18 years with her natural look make-up.

She started the evening off at Nick House's Whisky Mist venue, where she has been frequently spotted partying over the last few months, before attending a friend's birthday at Bungalow 8 - Peaches and Pixie Geldof's favourite club.

When she finally left at 2.30am, she was wrapped up in a coat and scarf with her formerly pristine hair hanging in front of her face.

Since turning 18 last April, Emma has become a regular on the London party scene, as well as becoming a popular celebrity in the front row of fashion shows in the capital and across the channel in Paris.

Despite her newfound social status and nights out at top London clubs, Emma insisted she's no party girl.

She told the Mail on Sunday's Live magazine: 'I’m not tempted by parties or drugs. I don’t actually like being drunk, particularly in public.

Emma Watson enjoys a night out at Whisky Mist and Bungalow 8

'But I do understand why people get sucked into a party lifestyle. I can see how it happens so I’d never criticise someone who gets into all that. It can get pretty tough.'
Her choice of short dress last night contradicted a recent claim by Emma that she'd 'never go out in a mini-skirt'.
Since becoming an official adult, Emma has been reluctant to see herself painted as a sex symbol in the media.
She said: 'I know everyone wants a picture of me in a miniskirt.
'But that's not me. It's nothing to do with protecting the Hermione image. I'd never go out in a miniskirt.'

Emma is currently taking time out of education after completing her A levels last year and is hoping to go university in the near future.
She said: 'I actually think going to university will make me a better actress.
'The experience of living like that, working to deadlines, living with other students. It’s all the things I want.
'There are actresses who don’t know about things like doing their own laundry and getting a bus. I’m not going to be like that.'
Meanwhile, Emma has reportedly been approached by Greenpeace to become an ambassador for the environmental charity.
A Greenpeace spokesman said: 'Emma would be perfect for us. She's posh, pretty, brainy and committed. She's also not too star struck to care if it's seen as vaguely controversial. She would really help.'Emma will next to be seen playing Hermione Granger in Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince in July.

The 16-year-old's death has affected many. Speaking of Travolta's relationship with his son, Bahamian parliament member Obie Wilchcombe told Larry King, "He always brought him along. There was a close affectionate relationship and lots of love. People in the old Bahama community today are in shock."

Travolta and Preston had revealed that their son became sick when he was 2, and was diagnosed with Kawasaki disease, an illness that leads to inflammation of the blood vessels in young children.

Both parents blamed his diagnosis on household cleaners, and used Scientology's detoxification program to improve their son's health. "I was obsessive about his space being cleaned. We constantly had the carpets cleaned," Travolta said in a 2001 interview.

Preston and Travolta also have a daughter named Ella.

On Jan. 2, the Travoltas' family vacation turned to tragedy when son Jett was found unconscious in bathtub at the family's resort in the Bahamas. Jett eventually died of a seizure, despite several attempts to save him. Travolta tried to revive Jett using CPR after the teen was discovered unconscious. "He was doing mouth-to-mouth to resuscitate," Travolta's attorney Michael McDermott said.
Actress Leah Remini has watched the family tragedy unfold and says they are dealing with the tragedy very well. "How do you deal with the greatest tragedy in your life? I can tell you that they are handling it the best any parent could ever deal," Remini said.
While they are still trying to stay out of the public eye, friends say the couple haven't secluded themselves and are making time to see friends and stay strong for their daughter Ella Bleu.
"They aren't secluding themselves or paralyzed," a family friend said. "[Seeing them] was like old times. Nothing awkward and no topics to dance around. There were smiles."
Despite controversy with their religion, friends say Scientology has helped the family find peace with their son's death. "They're relying on their faith to get them through this. Their faith is solid, and their family is solid," said a friend.

LOS ANGELES – Robert Downey Jr. is officially back in the superhero business.

Production started Wednesday on "Iron Man 2," the sequel to his 2008 blockbuster about the Marvel Comics character.

Jon Favreau is back directing again for the sequel that hits theaters May 7, 2010.

Harry Potter author quits MS charity over 'rifts'

LONDON (AFP) – Multi-millionaire Harry Potter author J.K. Rowling said Thursday she had quit as patron of a Scottish charity for multiple sclerosis because the organisation is being ripped apart by an internal row.
Harry Potter author quits MS charity over 'rifts' AFP/POOL/File – Multi-millionaire Harry Potter author J.K. Rowling, seen here in 2008, said Thursday she had quit as …

Rowling, who has supported the charity for nearly a decade after her mother died from the debilitating disease in 1991, said conflict between MS Society Scotland and management in London had resulted in a host of resignations.

"I have now reluctantly decided that I cannot, in good conscience, continue to be the public face of a charity that is changing beyond recognition from the one with which I have been so proud to be associated," she said.

Rowling said she had taken the decision to stand down "with profound sadness and regret" but added that her financial backing for a research project into the disease at Edinburgh University would continue.

She said in a statement: "This disease claimed my mother's life at the age of 45, and I hope to continue giving both time and money to a cause which remains so close to my heart."

Rowling said she had initiated a mediation session last year in a bid to resolve the internal rifts but it had proved fruitless.

Since then, she had "witnessed resignations of immensely dedicated people within MSSS and the increasing demoralisation of staff whom I have come to know and admire over the 10 years of our association."

An MS Society spokesman said the charity was "is in the middle of a governance review to make sure we are properly organised to build on the excellent work we already do."

"J.K. Rowling has been a great patron for the MS Society Scotland for many years. We are sorry she is stepping down and thank her for her good work, and for her continued support for the MS research centre in Edinburgh," the spokeswoman added.

Rowling, 43, has earned 560 million pounds (620 million euros, 820 million dollars) from books about the boy wizard, according to last year's Sunday Times Rich List.

Gospel singer David "Pop" Winans dies

NASHVILLE, Tennessee (Reuters) – David "Pop" Winans, patriarch of The Winans family gospel group that earned six Grammy awards, has died, a spokesman for a Nashville hospice said on Thursday.
Winans was nominated for a Grammy for his solo CD Uncensored in 1999
Pop Winans, Uncensored (1999)
Winans, 74, died of a heart attack on Wednesday with his wife, Delores, at his side, a spokesman said. He had suffered a heart attack and stroke last year.

Under Winans' guiding hand as manager of the children, The Winans became the biggest male gospel quartet of the 1980s with such songs as "It's Time" and "Ain't No Need to Worry."

The Winans, nicknamed "Mom" and "Pop," had 10 children in all.

The four performing as The Winans were Michael, Marvin, Carvin and Ronald, though other family members occasionally joined the group. Two children, BeBe and CeCe Winans, formed a duo and turned out R&B/gospel hits such as "Addictive Love" and "I'll Take You There."

The parents recorded a Grammy-nominated debut, "Mom & Pop Winans," in 1989 followed by "The Rest of My Life," which featured a rocking rendition of "Go Tell It On The Mountain."

Another solo album, "Uncensored," was nominated for a Grammy and was described by Billboard magazine as "some of the most compelling music this century has spawned."

A statement from the Winans family said that memorial services are planned for next week at Perfection Church in Detroit where Marvin Winans is senior pastor.

According to the Hollywood Reporter, the duo will play warring deities in the epic F/X-heavy flick, with Neeson taking on the role of Zeus, the ill-tempered king of the Greek gods, while Fiennes will play underworld ruler, and would-be Olympian usurper, Hades.

Louis Leterrier will direct a cast that also includes Bond baddie Mads Mikkelsen, Bond babe Gemma Arterton and Alexa Davalos, who, as yet, has no discernible connection to 007. Shooting begins later this month in the U.K.

In the rest of the day's casting coups, Zac Efron finally lands a nonmusical role, Brittany Murphy doesn't, and Freddy Krueger gets a new victim...

• Zac Efron is following through on his vow to avoid more song-and-dance roles, signing on to star in the animated action adaptation of Jonny Quest. According to the Los Angeles Times, Dwayne Johnson is in talks to join the boy wonder as man-of-action Race Bannon. The franchise-ready role may be a departure for Efron, but it's not exactly a more mature role: In the original Quest cartoon series, Jonny was an 11-year-old boy.

• Brittany Murphy is tuning up for The Expendables. Per the Hollywood Reporter, the actress will join Sylvester Stallone, Jason Statham, Mickey Rourke, Jet Li, Dolph Lundgren and Randy Couture in the Sly-directed action flick centering on a team of mercenaries who head to South America to overthrow a dictator. Murphy will play Rourke's singer girlfriend.

• Virginia Madsen is going elemental in Fighting Gravity. Per Variety, the Sideways thesp will produce the documentary, following 15 women ski jumpers as they train and fight to be able to compete in the 2010 Vancouver Olympic Games. Ski jumping is currently the only Olympic sport open only to men.

• David O. Russell is apparently ready for his (second) YouTube close-up. The tempestuous director will helm the John Hughes-like romantic comedy Aaron and Sarah, per Variety, following a nerdy guy and popular girl who meet as high school freshman and, four years later, fall in love.

• Kyle Gallner is ready to be victimized. The Haunting in Connecticut star has signed on as one of the terrorized teens and potential victims of Freddy Krueger in A Nightmare on Elm Street, according to Variety. Jackie Earle Haley stars as the iconic villain.

Date Rape Jokes to Hurt Seth Rogen’s Box Office? Today in Film Bloggery 04/08/09

What’s funnier, cancer or rape? That’s a trick question; neither is funny. And in the past 24 hours I’ve seen concerns for two Seth Rogen movies because of how they involve these unfunny subjects. Of course, I doubt the cancer comedy Funny People will turn as many people off as much as the date rape joke in Observe and Report.

If you’ve seen the red-band trailer for Observe and Report, you’ve seen the gist of the joke, which has Rogen pause mid-intercourse because he thinks Anna Faris’ character is unconscious. She’s apparently not, though, and scolds the guy for stopping. Yes, it’s black comedy, and yes, it makes sense as a joke in theory. But neither Faris’ seemingly conscious outburst nor the audiences’ laughter make it okay, according to some people who will not be going to see the movie this weekend or ever.

Few blogs are writing about the date rape issue surrounding the movie, but those that are have received a few interesting comments, all of which make me wonder if Observe and Report’s box office could be even slightly hurt by the joke. Certainly there have been successful films featuring total scumbag protagonists (Gran Torino is one example, though its character’s racism isn’t necessarily played for laughs), but does this one really appear to be saying that the scumbaggery is forgiveable in certain situations? After reading Faris’ thoughts, watching Rogen’s apologism and reading the comments below, let us if you’ll also be avoiding the movie as a result of its misogynous humor.

* In the first of two posts on the issue, Sady at Tiger Beatdown complains, in response to the apologism of the punchline, that the film not just “contains, by all accounts, a scene of rape; it contains, by all accounts, a scene of rape in which the victim likes it and begs for more.” Commenter “antiplath” writes:

this movie sounds beyond horrid and I’m about to vomit just reading the description of the rape scene. Do people actually laugh at this? Really?

* Quoting from Sady’s post, Melissa McEwan at Shakesville calls the film an “unmitigated clusterfuck” and calls Rogen “Rape Apologist #1.” Commenter “AnneOnne” asks:

Why is it that people would want to ban or belittle perfectly consensual, nuanced portrayals of human sexuality, yet find it acceptable, indeed ‘artistic’ to broadcast rape as entertainment or being ‘edgy’. We have serious problems with our attitudes to sexuality, humour and free speech.

* Dan Kois at Vulture affirms that what Rogen’s character does is indeed rape, though in context, “this scene winds up seeming a lot less awful as the movie goes on.” Commenting in response to Kois’ inclusion of a justifying quote from Faris, “REBECCAROSE2004″ writes:

because I suspect many people will defend this by saying “Oh, well Anna Faris thought it was no big deal, and she’s a woman, so we shouldn’t care., I will say this…go rent a BRILLIANT film called “The Journals of Jean Seberg” directed by cinematic mastermind Mark Rappaport. Once you have seen his unflinching depiction of how carelessly women allow themselves to be used and abused just to claim the privelege of being part of the Hollywood scene, then I will be THRILLED to debate you on this issue. He frames it in a way that is more poignant and impactful than I ever would.

* In her second post, which responds to the Vulture piece, Sady gets even more infuriated:

what we need to talk about is that the other crimes of violence in Observe & Report are just so much worse than rape, really, so women and rape victims should all just chill and agree to like the movie (even though, I am betting, it’s far more likely that a woman will be raped at the end of a date than that she will be killed or maimed by a comically insane mall security guard; I am also betting that the widespread social toleration of rape is far more likely to be reinforced by a joke that trivializes and justifies rape than the non-existent social toleration of murder is likely to be reinforced by a joke about murder)

* Amanda Hess at The Sexist also lashes out at the joke being that “she just prefers to fuck while sleeping!” Commenter “Brohem Can Sukkit” writes:

Rogen: “when we’re having sex and she’s unconscious…”

You’re not “having sex” when one of you is UNCONSCIOUS you disgusting piece of shit! Now I even regret just having rented Knocked Up. I’ll never see anything associated with this scumbag again. He Fatty Arbuckled himself here as far as I’m concerned.

Miley Cyrus Leaves 'Achy Breaky Heart' To Dad Billy Ray Cyrus

'He's the one and only guy that could do it,' the 'Hannah Montana' star says of Billy Ray's biggest hit.

Although her dad, Billy Ray Cyrus, shot to fame with the lovelorn country song "Achy Breaky Heart" back in 1992, don't expect Miley Cyrus to head into the studio anytime soon to re-record his biggest hit.

"I think both me and my dad have both heard that song enough," she told MTV News. "He's the one and only. I don't want anyone to ever to cut it, really, because he's the one and only guy that could do it, I think."

Billy Ray agrees that she should leave "Achy Breaky" to him, adding, "It's gotten plenty enough laughs as it is."

But he does see a future in country music for the young star and maybe even a collaboration with him in the near future. "She loves to play [the Rolling Stones'] 'Honky Tonk Woman,' " he said. "I don't think she's ever sang it out, unless she's onstage with me, but she'd just kill it. I mean, she just wears it out."

The two have previously collaborated on "Ready, Set, Don't Go," a song Billy Ray holds close to his heart. "She's definitely got a rock-and-roll spirit that comes out every now and then," he said. "The song 'Ready, Set, Don't Go' that she sang with me, sometimes she would sound like Stevie Nicks and other times she would sound like Loretta Lynn, and sometimes it'd be the perfect balance between the two."

'Extract' Welcomes Its Teaser Trailer

The just-released teaser trailer of comedy film "Extract" exposes how a minor mess happening in beverage company Reynold's Extract leads to a number of some other major chaos.

Five months away from its U.S. release date, comedy movie "Extract" has got its first teaser trailer. The more-than-one minute footage shows how a minor mess happening in a beverage company called Reynold's Extract leads to a number of other major chaos.

The numerous distraction turns the life of one of the factory's workers, played by actor Jason Bateman, upside down. The plot of the movie goes on, telling how Bateman's character's life gets even more complicated following his encounter with a young con artist and a dim-witted gigolo.

"Extract", which comes from the production hands of John Altschuler, Michael Rotenberg, and Tom Lassally, will be released in U.S. theaters on September 4 later this year. Mike Judge, who is best known as the creator and star of some hit animated television series, serves as its director.

The film teams Jason Bateman with actress Kristen Wiig who stars as his wife, and Ben Affleck who plays his best friend who works at a bar. Mila Kunis, J.K. Simmons, Clifton Collins Jr., David Koechner, Dustin Milligan, and T.J. Miller are the other cast of the film.

Rob and Nikki So Not "Dating"

We've already pointed out some weird crap that's been going on in the coverage of the possibly together costars Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart. So we can't say that we're surprised at the latest rumor surrounding the sought-after heartthrob.

Life & Style is reporting that Rob is "back" with New Moon costar Nikki Reed. Apparently, the two shacked up together after a party in Vancouver, causing N.R. to catch a later-than-anticipated flight to L.A.

We're calling total bull on this one, folks.

Maybe the two cutie-pies did hang out, but we'll put money on the fact that it was totally not Twilight-worthy heart-wrenching love stuff. After all, Nikki and Kristen are BFF's, right?

More than one very good chum to Nik and Kris is adamantly refuting any Rob-Nikki romance. We're told a serious relationship between N and R does not exist. "I get why people would think that. Let's just say it's convenient for a lot of people to pair Rob in the media up with Nikki, Natalie Portman, Paris, whoever to get the heat off him and Kristen."

Another Twilight know-it-all sniffed: "Well, let's just say Nikki likes this stuff out there more than Rob does, who really just f--ks whoever he wants—and he does."

So interesting! Our dirty minds can't help but wonder if there's a good reason to get the heat off R 'n' K. Or is that all total crap like one of our usually fave gossipers, Lainey, is dishing. This babe loves to call out people's bull (it's why we heart her); we just don't get why she and many others are getting sucked into this Nikki and Rob romance.

Stay tuned, this is just the beginning of things to come.

Oh, and a P.S. If you're one of these folks lovin' the "conspiracy" crap, then check this out. Same taxi ride in which Rob and K were pictured out together, but why is there a black blob Photoshopped out in the paparazzi pics?

Britney Considers Taking the Circus Down Under

Britney Spears' tour may be heading south. Way south.

In court today, attorneys representing the popster and father Jamie's conservatorship discussed the possibility of taking Spears' supremely successful Circus tour to Australia.

Nothing was decided at what was otherwise a largely uneventful hearing pertaining to the conservatorship, which has been in place since Feb. 1, 2008, and was extended indefinitely in December.

Another court date has been set for April 14.

The Circus Starring Britney Spears unfolds in Edmonton tonight, after which the song-and-dance extravaganza hits Vancouver before heading southward along the West Coast. As the schedule stands, Spears' troupe touches down June 3 in London, where they'll do eight shows (all sold out), and then wraps up June 17 in Manchester.

Actor resurfaces in White House after "suicide" (Reuters)

LOS ANGELES (Reuters) - Hollywood star Kal Penn has swapped television's "House" for the White House .

The 31-year-old actor, who made his mark as the pot-smoking Kumar in the "Harold and Kumar" feature film comedies , will become associate director in the White House office of public liaison, Entertainment Weekly reported on Monday.

For the past two seasons, Penn played Dr. Lawrence Kuttner on Fox's medical-mystery drama "House." His character exited the show in a violent fashion on Monday's episode by committing suicide for no apparent reason.

Penn told Entertainment Weekly that he loved working on "House," but had always been a bit of a political junkie, inspired in part by his grandparents, who marched with Mahatma Gandhi in the Indian independence movement .

He campaigned for U.S. President Barack Obama , expressed interest in working for his administration, and got a job offer a few months ago. In his new role -- for which he will take a big pay cut -- he will "do outreach" with the American public and with different organizations.

"They're basically the front door of the White House. They take out all of the red tape that falls between the general public and the White House," he said of his new colleagues.

Penn, one of the few Indian-American actors to make it big in Hollywood, said he still has a passion for acting, but won't be appearing on screen for the foreseeable future.

"Hannah" movie goes heavy on the country corn (Reuters)

LOS ANGELES (Hollywood Reporter) - Hannah Montana goes more than a little bit country for her first (nonconcert) big-screen outing, and the resulting Nashville/bubble gum fusion doesn't necessarily represent the best of both worlds.

Not that the tweens will mind the twang. " Hannah Montana: The Movie " is a can't-miss proposition for Disney, which is smartly striking while the iron is still reasonably hot.

It likely won't match last year's $31.1 million opening registered by Miley's all-singing "Best of Both Worlds," but Cyrus' enthusiastic fan base should ensure brisk spring-break business.

The setup finds Miley Stewart (Cyrus) becoming a little too attached to her pop-star alter ego, much to the concern of her daddy ( Billy Ray Cyrus ), who orchestrates an intervention by taking a surprise trip back to her old Crowley Corners, Tennessee, home.

Despite her initial protests, Miley gets into the swing of things, swapping glitter for gingham and striking up a potential romance with an aw-shucks cowboy (Lucas Till).

But just when she's prepared to leave Hannah behind, along comes a greedy developer ( Barry Bostwick ) with plans to turn Main Street into a mall, and only one person comes to mind for a big benefit concert that will keep Crowley Corners' corners intact.

When you get right down to it, Miley's trek to Tennessee brings to mind the one taken by the Ricardos and the Mertzes when they met up with Cousin Ernie. While that was more than half a century ago, director Peter Chelsom (" Hear My Song ," " Shall We Dance ") and screenwriter Dan Berendsen ("Cheetah Girls: One World"), pretty much serve up the same brand of cornpone.

That's still preferable to misguided attempts at marrying Hannah's contemporary pop/hip-hop sound with the Grand Ole Opry , as in the squirm-inducing "Hoedown Throwdown" (don't ask), or extended scenes of deep introspection that bring things to a snail's crawl.

Still, there are sufficient pratfalls and Miley/Hannah quick-changes to satisfy the fans, while Cyrus retains that natural, unforced likability that made her a star in the first place.

In addition to series regulars papa Cyrus, Emily Osment , Mitchel Musso and Jason Earles , there's Vanessa Williams as Hannah's overzealous publicist (doing a variation on her " Ugly Betty " character), British actor Peter Gunn as a relentless tabloid reporter and a solid-as-usual Margo Martindale as Miley's salt-of-the-earth Grandma Ruby.

Rounding out the obligatory Cyrus songs, including the tender Glen Ballard/Alan Silvestri ballad "Butterfly Fly Away," a duet with her dad, are "live" performances by Rascal Flatts and teen country crossover sensation Taylor Swift , who -- see ya, Hannah -- apparently is the person Miley Cyrus really wants to be when she grows up.

'Aliens' tops international box office

"Monsters vs. Aliens" is proving to be 3-D's ambassador to the world.

Like domestic moviegoers, ticket buyers overseas seem willing to pay a premium for seeing a movie in the new format.

A significant share of the overseas gross is coming from 3-D runs, even though those runs represent a relatively small percentage of the pic's total screen count. In Spain, for example, 3-D accounted for 38% of the gross but only 20% of the screens. The results in Italy were even more dramatic, with 45% of the tally from only 19% of the screen count.

"Monsters" placed No. 1 at the international box office over the weekend, grossing $33.5 million from 7,467 runs in 47 territories. Foreign cume on the toon from DreamWorks Animation/Paramount is $47 million.

Pic opened March 27 domestically and in a few overseas territories that same week but broadened into new territories last weekend, timed to students' spring breaks.

"We're definitely seeing the same dynamic internationally, in that people prefer to see movies in 3-D when they have the opportunity," Paramount co-chair Rob Moore said.

In the U.K., the film enjoyed a $6.4 million opening weekend, with 3-D runs contributing an amazing 50% of that even though those runs account for a small percentage of the total playdates.

In Austria, 3-D runs accounted for 59% of the gross; other markets also had high tallies, such as Australia (38%) and Argentina (30%).

In China, the pic ran exclusively on 3-D screens.

The revenue trend has been similar on the domestic front. In its U.S. opening weekend, 3-D runs yielded 56% of the gross, although they made up less than 28% of the total screen count (1,550 3-D locations out of 4,104 total).

The toon is a key test for the fledgling 3-D rebirth, as it's the first of a number of Hollywood event pics set for release this year, culminating in December with 20th Century Fox's "Avatar."

Par international prexy of distribution Andrew Cripps said the continuing rollout is designed to take advantage of various spring vacations. Ultimately, "Monsters" will play on 1,600 3-D screens, the current number of 3-D screens internationally.

"Monsters" scored DreamWorks Animation its third best opening gross for an original title after "Shrek" and "Kung Fu Panda."

Even so, DreamWorks Animation's share price slumped on Monday and Tuesday after several analysts downgraded the company's stock. On a down day overall, DWA shares fell nearly 3% to close at $19.45 on Tuesday.

Through Sunday, the domestic gross on "Monsters vs. Aliens" was $104.8 million for a worldwide total of $151.8 million. At that rate, "Monsters" should generate the same amount of business as Fox's "Ice Age" or Warner Bros.' "Happy Feet," which grossed $383 million and $384 million, respectively, at the worldwide box office.

After "Monsters," the other big winner at the foreign box office last 5 weekend was Universal's "Fast and Furious," the fourth outing of the action franchise.

The reteaming of Vin Diesel, Paul Walker, Michelle Rodriguez and Jordana Brewster for the first time since the original 2001 pic did the trick, both domestically and overseas.

Pic opened to $30.7 million from 3,269 runs in 32 territories overseas. It opened at $71 million domestically, putting the worldwide tally at $101.7 million.

Adam Sandler making a movie I'm excited about (finally!)

Sandlerbellojames_l The last Adam Sandler movie I saw in theaters was 2004's Spanglish, which I remember not loving. (Although I now find myself watching it every time I spot it on cable, if only for the Téa Leoni-Cloris Leachman scenes. Strange. Same thing happened with 1990's Joe Versus the Volcano.) Today, however, I'm feeling hopeful. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Maria Bello (The History of Violence) has joined the cast of an untitled Sandler comedy about high school friends who reunite decades later. Also in the ensemble: Chris Rock, Salma Hayek, Maya Rudolph, Kevin James, David Spade, and Rob Schneider (naturally). Bello will play James' wife, which, I'm praying, isn't turned into some kind of According to Jim episode. I still believe he's ready to play a character that's not a boob. Hopefully Sandler, who cowrote the script with Fred Wolf (Joe Dirt, just pretending I didn't know that), agrees. Anyone else ready to return to Sandler? Or have you never left him?

Acouple of Days ago, MGM released the teaser trailer for their new “Fame” remake, and I must say it doesn’t look half bad. It starts off with a girl singing her heart out. Then it breaks into show other cast members dancing to a new ,upgraded 21st century theme song, “I’m Gonna Live Forever”along with scenes from the movie. I really enjoyed listening to the new theme song. It was good and had a nice beat to it. Iron Man 2 Set Pictures

Looks like Jon Favreau’s “Iron Man 2″ has commenced shooting, as these set pictures of Robert Downey Jr. chomping on a cigar and Gwyneth Paltrow being driven around will clearly attest. I wonder what RDJ is carrying around. Looks like a really big Iron Man-esque secret is hidden in that suitcase. Then again, maybe he keeps his extra cigars in there. You can never tell with ol Tony Stark, he’s mysterious that way.
RDJ has promised that “Iron Man 2″ will have twice the action, but also more character development. The movie will not revolve around the popular comic book storyline “Demon in a Bottle”, and will feature villains Sam Rockwell as an evil industrialist (is there any other kind?) and Mickey Rourke as a badass armored villain who may or may not be the Crimson Dynamo.

In other “Iron Man 2″ news, former Rhodey Terrence Howard (who has since been replaced by Don Cheadle) told SciFiWire this about losing the role:
Iron Man happened with that. Marvel happened with it. They made a choice. They made a very, very bad choice. They didn’t keep their word. They didn’t honor our contract. They sent everyone out into a field and told them to work and produce a great bounty. You produce a great bounty, and then when it’s all in the storehouse, you are not allowed into the storehouse… They did the same thing with Gwyneth [Paltrow], from what I’ve been told. They did it with almost everyone, I think, except Downey throughout the thing. One of the things that actors need to learn to do is take a tip from Friends [whose cast members all held out for higher pay]. You always choose to stick together. One for all and all for one. Our Gang, you know? Let Spanky be our rule.

Yup, Terrence doesn’t sound bitter at all.

New Fighting Images from the Movie Fighting

In case you were wondering, Channing Tatum’s new movie “Fighting” is about fighting. I know it’s a little hard to figure out by the title and all, but yeah, this is actually an action movie about a small-town guy who goes to the big city and ends up in illegal street fighting for money. It is NOT about guys with AIDS in New York living together as roommates, just so we’re clear. Hey, you gotta pay those bills. Some people deliver pizzas, others deliver bloody beatings to the face with their fists. Who are we to say which path is right and which is wrong? Exactly. New battling images from “Fighting” after the jump.
Small-town boy Shawn MacArthur (Channing Tatum) has come to New York City with nothing. Barely earning a living selling counterfeit goods on the streets, his luck changes when scam artist Harvey Boarden (Terrence Howard) sees that he has a natural talent for streetfighting. When Harvey offers Shawn help at making the real cash, the two form an uneasy partnership. As Shawn’s manager, Harvey introduces him to the corrupt bare-knuckle circuit
, where rich men bet on disposable pawns. Almost overnight, he becomes a star brawler, taking down professional boxers, mixed martial arts champs and ultimate fighters in a series of staggeringly intense bouts. But if Shawn ever hopes to escape the dark world in which he’s found himself, he must now face the toughest fight of his life.

Starring Channing Tatum, Terrence Howard, Luis Guzmán, Brian J. White, Flaco Navaja, Zulay Henao, and directed by Dito Montiel.

Throw down April 24.

Three of the new pics below. Check out the rest in our “Fighting” images gallery.
