Katrina 'Bikini Girl' Darrell "American Idol"

Katrina "Bikini Girl" Darrell — the 20-year-old model who auditioned for "American Idol" in her bikini and made it to Hollywood Week — is stirring controversy.

After Darrell made it through the first round of Hollywood Week last night, which in the past, was no easy feat and separated the mediocre from the great, an "Idol" expert from the smash entertainment program MTV said he’s questioning the producers’ judgment on season 8.

"As an ‘Idol’ fan, I was more angry about those two fools [Darrell and comedian Nick "Norman Gentle" Mitchel] hogging more screen time, when contestants I actually cared about were cut," said resident MTV News "Idol" expert Jim Cantiello. "Hollywood Week is supposed to be ‘Idol’ fans’ gift, after a month of shticky auditions. We watch the audition episodes for the comedy. We watch Hollywood Week for the nail-biting, hair-pulling drama. It’s disappointing that producers got it wrong this year."

Darrell, who we first met in January when she sang Mariah Carey "Vision of Love" in a itsy-bitsy bikini and high heels, is also causing debate among the judges. During the Hollywood round, the new judge Kara DioGuardi said she hated Darrell’s rendition of Faith Hill’s "Breathe" in the end. Cowell made a cat claw motion (with animal sounds) and DioGuardi fired back: "Bring your pole tomorrow." Katrina advanced to the next round.

It’s obvious that sex sells …

"Sex and the City 2" is close to final approval??

Rumor has it, "Sex and the City 2" is close to final approval. Bringing the latest news about the proposed project, Entertainment Weekly (EW) reported that a source close to the sequel of "Sex and the City" has claimed the follow-up feature film project for the popular TV series of the same name is getting "ever closer, every day".

While noting that the script for the sequel is yet to be completed by screenwriter Michael Patrick King, the insider claimed that the plot will be "more comedic, and shorter, than the first" and it will still include the fabulous clothing and expensive accessories as "there's still a need for escapism". EW further suggested that the sequel will most likely to start its principal photography this summer for summer 2010 release.

So far, much details circulating around "Sex and the City 2" still remain unconfirmed. Previously, it has been reported that the film's star Sarah Jessica Parker has dished out the possibility of Carrie dealing with motherhood in the sequel. The actress said at the time, "[Motherhood] doesn't seem as if that's going to be a choice she'll make. It feels a little bit manipulative to toss that into the mix because she seems so pointed in a different direction."

Released on May 30, "Sex and the City", the movie version of HBO's original series "Sex and the City", has become the sixth biggest opening ever for a romantic comedy. Opening with $57 million over the first weekend, the movie that brought back its original cast, including Sarah Jessica Parker, Kim Cattrall, Kristin Davis and Cynthia Nixon has since grossed $415.3 million worldwide.

Seizing an estimated $24.6 million over the three-day weekend, the Pierre Morel-directed film has won over "Paul Blart: Mall Cop", which has dominated the box office for two weekends in a row.

Jesse McCartney Out of 'The Last Airbender'

Despite his earlier assurance to fans that he is putting his best foot forward for his role in "The Last Airbender", Jesse McCartney is no longer attached to the feature film adaptation. Of the matter, Variety reported the pop singer has to bow out from the project due to scheduling conflict with his touring dates.

Explaining McCartney's exit, director/writer/producer M. Night Shyamalan stated, "Jesse had tour dates that conflicted with a boot camp I always hold on my films, and where the actors here have to train for martial arts." The "Leavin'" singer was actually attached to Zuko character, who is the Fire Nation's evil prince.

Coming in to replace the 21-year-old is "Slumdog Millionaire" lead actor Dev Patel. About the choosing of the rising star, Shyamalan revealed that the 18-year-old was "already one of the guys I was interested in." The filmmaker then added, "Then I saw 'Slumdog Millionaire,' and the kid just grew in my eyes." By joining the project, Patel will be featured alongside "Twilight" actor Jackson Rathbone and newcomers Noah Ringer, Nicola Peltz and Jessica Jade Andres.

A live-action film version of Nickelodeon's animated series of the same name, "The Last Airbender" will see Noah Ringer as Aang, Dev Patel as Zuko, Nicola Peltz as Katara, Jackson Rathbone as Sokka and Jessica Jade Andres as Suki. Production is expected to begin in mid-March in Greenland for July 2, 2010 U.S. release. The movie is said to be a part of a trilogy.
