Will Taylor Swift be tonight's big winner at the CMAs? Listen to Gonzo's predictions on B-93

TAYLOR SWIFT.jpg

It is going to be a Taylor Swift night, right? Join me and B-93's award-winning nighttime disc jockey Broadway as we make our CMA awards show predictions at 7 tonight. I'll be a guest on Broadway's "Electric Barnyard Show" on WBCT-FM (93.7). You can listen live online.

All eyes will be on 19-year-old Swift, who is up for four Country Music Association awards, including the coveted Entertainer of the Year. She will go up against Kenny Chesney, George Strait, Keith Urban and Brad Paisley, who is co-hosting the CMAs with Carrie Underwood.

I'm going to tell you right now: It's going to be a BIG night for Swift, who will win all four of her nominations, including entertainer of the year, female vocalist, album of the year for "Fearless" and music video of the year for "Love Story."

Like me, Broadway also believes Swift will win the coveted entertainer of the year. But he has issues with it.

"Taylor will win (entertainer of the year), but it's too early (in her career)," Broadway said. "That's a diss from the Academy on Brad Paisley, BIG TIME!"

I say, if Brad Paisley wins it will be a diss on Taylor Swift, BIGGER TIME!

"The 43rd Annual CMA Awards" airs at 8 tonight on ABC-TV live from the Sommet Center in Nashville.

Sir Elton John Postpones The Rest Of "Red Piano" Tour

Sir Elton John is still too sick to perform. The music legend has postponed the rest of his concerts after his doctor forbade him to perform.

John, 62, first canceled a show last week. Doctors confirmed that he had flu, advising him to postpone his show at the Sheffield Arena on October 23. It was then stated that his subsequent shows will not be affected.

However, his gigs in Newcastle, London, and Liverpool, were all postponed as well.

The latest show affected is his scheduled performance in Dublin on October 30, Friday.

A statement on his website reads: "Elton's symptoms have not improved significantly enough for Doctors to allow him to perform this Friday at the O2 in Dublin. Elton's spokesman said that 'He is bitterly disappointed not to be playing Dublin. He had picked Dublin to close the Red Piano worldwide, because of the great warmth of the people and the great concerts he had in the city over many years. He is hoping to reschedule the dates in the very near future.'"

Aiken Promotions are negotiating to reschedule the postponed shows. Ticket holders are requested to hold onto their passes.

“House of the Devil” Director Ti West On His Ups and Downs in Hollywood

Magnolia Pictures

The triumph of “Paranormal Activity” over “Saw VI” at the box office last weekend suggests audiences may crave subtle, low-key spookiness over blood-and-guts mayhem. This has given confidence to Ti West, the director of “The House of the Devil,” which opens on Friday in time for Halloween. The movie adopts an old-school ’80s horror approach in its depiction of a broke college student (Jocelin Donahue) answering a babysitting ad that turns out to be a satanic ruse. The slow-burn pace, as the main character gradually realizes the danger, is in contrast to the frenzied market standard for scary movies.

West has had a bit of an uneasy time in Hollywood. In 2006, he was hired to direct a sequel to “Cabin Fever” for Lionsgate. But after West disagreed with the studio’s cut, he left the project and requested to have his name removed from the credits. Lionsgate chose to keep his name on the film, and since West isn’t a member of the Directors Guild of America, he can’t protest. “Cabin Fever 2″ is playing at film festivals, and West has heard rumors it will come out on DVD in February (he’s not sure what sort of profits he stands to make from the release).

A spokesperson for Lionsgate confirmed the February release date, but had no comment regarding Ti West.

“In my mind, it’s not my movie,” he said, but added that he harbors no ill-will toward Lionsgate. “They’re not bad people. They have the best intentions for what they’re trying to accomplish with that movie. I just didn’t agree with it, so I bailed.”

West initially butted heads with producers on “House of the Devil,” too. When the movie premiered at the Tribeca Film Festival in April, he complained that several tension-building minutes had been cut. When Magnolia Pictures picked up the movie for theatrical distribution, the company chose to release West’s original version.

West is currently working on a number of projects, including a five-episode Web series he wrote and directed for IFC about vampires and online dating called “Dead and Lonely.” (Check out the eerie fake dating site created as a tie-in here.) West is also attached to direct two features: a film about punk rock called “Losers Take All” and “The Haunting in Georgia,” a follow-up to “The Haunting in Connecticut,” which grossed over $76.5 million worldwide. In other words, West is directing another studio sequel — but this time, he has some standards in place.

“The way I’m accustomed to making movies is the way I like making movies,” he said. “It’s not just a career; it’s a lifestyle. I don’t want to go in as a gun for hire.”

New Movies Podcast: Michael Jackson documentary 'This Is It'

this-is-it-header.jpgMichael Jackson rehearsing for his London concerts in “This Is It.”Today's release of "This Is It," the documentary about Michael Jackson's preparations for his series of London concerts, means this week's New Movies Podcast comes a couple days early.

In some ways, the film isn't exactly what we may be expecting, according to Grand Rapids Press film critic John Serba, who discusses it and new DVD releases with sidekick/producer Cory Olsen. Give it a listen:
