‘Desperate Housewives’ Jury Deadlocked in Nicollette Sheridan’s Wrongful Termination Suit

Nicollette Sheridan and ABC have to wait at least one more day to hear the verdict in the former “Desperate Housewives” star’s wrongful termination lawsuit. After the case went to jury on Wednesday, March 14, the jury announced on Thursday that it has not reached a verdict.

After the first full day of deliberations, the juror consisting of 9 women and 3 men returned to the court at 4 P.M. and told judge Judge Elizabeth Allen White that they were “having difficulty reaching a verdict.” The judge told them to go home and spend the evening reflecting on the matter before returning Friday at 10 A.M. to continue deliberating.

Earlier that day, the jury asked the judge to define “complaint” in the jury instructions. “Although an employee need not formally file a charge in order to qualify as a complaint, the employee needs to put the employer on notice of any allegedly improper activities,” the judge explained.

Met outside the courtroom, Sheridan’s lawyer Mark Baute commented on Thursday’s outcome, “I’m sensing some frustration and polarization.” He additionally showed confidence as saying, “I think the majority of jurors are in Nicollette’s favor but it takes 9 to get to the finish line.”

‘Desperate Housewives’ Trial: Judge Drops Battery Charge, Surprise Witness Testifies

Judge Elizabeth Allen White has delivered a verdict in one point of Nicollette Sheridan’s lawsuit against Marc Cherry and ABC. During the “Desperate Housewives” trial on Tuesday, March 13, the judge dismissed the battery charge, which means the show’s creator is no longer a defendant in this case.

In delivering the verdict, the judge said that Sheridan’s claims did not meet the standards of workman’s compensation statutes that apply to these matters. Responding to the ruling, Cherry said to media outside the courtroom, “Obviously I’m thrilled by the judge’s decision. But I’m going to withhold further comment until this matter is resolved completely.”

Meanwhile, construction coordinator Michael Reinhart has testified for Sheridan in the wrongful termination lawsuit against ABC and ABC Studios. The employee on the drama series told the jurors he received an email believed to be suggesting a plan to wipe hard drives clean of correspondence relating to Sheridan’s firing.

Saying that he could not recall the specific language of the email, its sender or the other recipients, Mike admitted that he may have misunderstood the email. The worker additionally said he regretted describing the email as a “definite conspiracy.”

Closing arguments were initially expected to begin Tuesday afternoon, but are now scheduled on Wednesday.

Desperate Housewives aired maybe its worst-kept-spoiler episode ever tonight. Thanks to the real life drama of the cast, a testimony under oath, and numerous sources, the demise of TV’s hottest plumber was hardly a secret.

“You Take for Granted” was the perfect mix of suspense and surprise with a perfectly delicious and explosive ending. Although Mike was a candidate on my death pool list and I kind of sort of knew about the spoiler, I was still in denial throughout the entire installment. Aside from the core four, Mike was the last person I wanted to see go.

I’ve always genuinely liked his character and thought that Mike Delfino, who was played by James Denton, was one of the few people who had some sense on the Lane. In fact, he even helped to make Susan a bit more bearable at times. To say the least, Mike will be missed. I, for one, am disappointed that it was him to bite the bullet – literally – and it breaks my heart that MJ is without a father and Susan is without a husband again.

I couldn’t help but shed a tear or two while pivotal moments throughout Mike and Susan’s life were shown in flashbacks. It was an incredibly beautiful way to say goodbye to Mike and remember him always as the reliable and courageous friend, neighbor, husband and father. Fairview just won’t be the same without him.

Elsewhere: I was so glad to see all of the Wisteria women back together again sharing coffee and tea and just being there for one another. Susan is definitely going to need her girls now more than ever.

Meanwhile, Carlos was back and wanted to shake things up a bit at work. Much to Gaby’s dismay, he was handing out checks to previously laid off employees. Unsurprisingly, Gaby couldn’t understand why Carlos wanted out of his current job and wanted to actually make a difference with his work. Could she seriously be anymore self involved? I actually thought she was making some improvements last week.

Things for Lynette continued to worsen when she found out that Tom and Jane would soon be living together. Do you think that Lynette actually panicked when Jane was choking? There was a tiny part of me that actually felt like she hesitated some before actually saving Jane’s life.

For the most part, Mrs. McCluskey asking Bree to help her with ending her own life was good for the laughs but played a minor role in the turn of events. It was just great to see Karen and Roy at their best and there for one another.

Finally, the police received Orson’s anonymous package filled with what appeared to be a lengthy letter detailing the night everyone wanted to be forgotten. I wish we knew more, but we knew enough was said to cause the police to want to immediately investigate the construction site. Are we to believe that this will actually happen and all who were involved will be questioned?

Each episode features a high-positioned executive or the owner of a corporation going undercover as an entry-level employee in their own company. The executive changes appearance and assumes an alias and fictional back-story. They spend approximately one week undercover, working in various areas of the company’s operations, with a different job and in most cases a different location each day. The boss is exposed to a series of predicaments with amusing results and invariably spends time getting to know selected company employees, learning about their professional and personal challenges.

At the end of the undercover week, the boss returns to true identity and calls in the selected employees to corporate headquarters. The boss rewards hardworking employees through campaign, promotion or financial rewards. Other employees are given training or better working conditions.
