The Office Season 9 Episode 2 – David Denman to guest star

The Office Season 9 Episode 2: The adage “time heals all wounds” is about to be tested, because warehouse jockey Roy is punching in for another shift at The Office.

David Denman will guest-star in the upcoming ninth season of the NBC comedy, TVLine has learned exclusively. According to sources, the hot-tempered former Dunder Miflin employee will show up in Episode 2.
Fans will remember loutish Roy as the main impediment to Pam and Jim’s slow-burn love story during the first three seasons of the NBC comedy. And when Pam confessed to her former fiancĂ© about kissing Jim, only Dwight’s quick thinking stopped Roy from beating Halpert to smithereens in the office. Roy was later fired.
He showed up in Season 5 for an uncomfortable exchange with Jim, who by that time was engaged to the lovely Ms. Beesly. Aside from a brief turn as a hostage in Michael Scott’s epic Threat Level Midnight, Roy’s been MIA since then.
Denman, on the other hand, has been busy. In addition to the short-lived Fox comedy Traffic Light, his TV appearances include Brothers & Sisters and Drop Dead Diva.
Denman’s love-to-hate character visits in a season that sees the paper company’s Scranton branch going through a re-org. Clarke Duke and Jake Lacy are joining the show as showrunner Paul Lieberstein (and possibly Rainn Wilson) exit; B.J. Novak and Mindy Kaling won’t be back full-time, either.
The Office returns to NBC Thursday, Sept. 20 at 9 pm/8c.

The Office – Season 9 – Jake Lacy becomes new regular

Better With You actor Jake Lacy is joining NBC’s The Office as a series regular next season.

Not a whole lot is known about Lacy’s role, but sources say he’ll play a new hire named Pete who’s also a potential love interest for Erin (Ellie Kemper). In describing his new gig to a cute barista in a rough-draft scene, Pete quips, “Not only am I the new guy who has to do the coffee runs, but it’s a paper company, so pretty much a non-stop adrenaline rush.”
Lacy was going to star in Fox’s midseason comedy The Goodwin Games next season, but was replaced by T.J. Miller after the pilot was shot. The Office is adding some new characters while saying goodbye next season to B.J. Novak, Mindy Kaling and James Spader. Expect Kaling, who’s launching The Mindy Project on Fox this fall, to have a chance to send off her character on The Office this fall.

The Office – Season 9 – Jenna Fischer says everyone wants to return

Jenna Fischer is in New York with her husband, writer/director Lee Kirk, to promote the premiere of their indie comedy The Giant Mechanical Man, but it was impossible to avoid talking about her family in Scranton — and whether they’ll be staying at the city’s Dunder Mifflin branch much longer.
With rumors swirling over the status of the show’s stars going forward — Mindy Kaling and Rainn Wilson have new TV pilots, and many of the rest are unsigned — Fischer looked to quell any talk of a possible exodus. Or, at least not one led by the cast members.
“I don’t know; it’s not up to me, because I’m just the actor, but the actors are all prepared and wanting to come back,” Fischer told The Hollywood Reporter. “The whole cast, I’m talking about everybody — Ed [Helms], John [Krasinski], me, everyone wants to come back. So it’s really just a matter of NBC pulling the trigger. They have to announce it by May 15 when the upfronts happen, right? So we’re all just waiting. We’re really excited to come back, everybody wants to come back. I know Rainn does have his show, but he’s going to come back to The Office as well, so yeah, we’re just waiting.”
Even Kaling, who is heading up her pilot over at Fox, could return, Fischer said.
“I don’t know how all that works out. That doesn’t mean she’s gone forever,” she said. “Listen, Mindy writes on our show, so we actually only get her for a couple of shooting days every week anyway, so I don’t know if that’s something can be worked out. Like I said, I don’t make all those schedules or anything, but yeah, I mean a lot of things are mis-reported and exaggerated and it’s hard to read.”
