Sarah Michelle Gellar pregnant with first child with husband Freddie Prinze Jr.

Buffy the Vampire Slayer star Sarah Michelle Gellar is pregnant, according to U.S. reports.

The actress, 31, and her actor husband Freddie Prinze Jr, 33, are expecting their first child together in autumn.

'They're very excited,' a source close to the couple told U.S. magazine People.

Gellar met her future husband Freddie Prinze, Jr on the set of the 1997 horror flick I Know What You Did Last Summer. They also starred together in the movie version of Scooby Doo.

They started dating in 2000 and were married in a lavish ceremony in Mexico on September 1, 2002.

The ceremony officiated by Adam Shankman, a film director and choreographer with whom Gellar had worked on Buffy the Vampire Slayer.
Although she is best known by her birth name, the actress legally changed her name to Sarah Michelle Prinze in honour of the couple's fifth year of marriage in 2007.
Her most famous acting role was as the character Buffy Summers in the series Buffy the Vampire Slayer and its spin-off Angel.
Humorously, she once revealed she had a phobia of being buried alive, which made it 'really hard being an ass-kicking vampire slayer when you are afraid of graves'.
The actress ended her role as Buffy in 2003 after a seven-year run but has recently been rumoured to be planning a feature-length film.
She also had leading roles in Cruel Intentions, Scooby-Doo, Japanese horror film The Grudge and Scream 2.
Gellar will next be seen in theatres playing a suicidal woman in her mid-twenties in the film Veronika Decides To Die, set for release in the U.S. in November.
