‘Dexter’ Boss Confirms the Serial Killer Considers Killing His Loved One to Solve Problem

A recently-released promo for “Dexter” season 7 includes a scene which suggests that the titular character might kill his own sister Debra. Speaking to reporters at the Television Critics Association’s summer press tour on Monday, July 30, showrunner Scott Buck confirmed that it’s one of the ideas that cross Dexter’s mind as a solution to his problem.

“Dexter is a serial killer. The thought has to at least have crossed his mind at some point that that would be an easy solution to this problem,” executive producer Scott Buck said of the possible bold move. “We don’t shy away from the reality that there’s no easy way to deal with this situation.”

Executive producer Sara Colleton chimed in on how the shocking discovery would affect Deb, “We acknowledge that a dark and dangerous and treacherous path has opened up for Deb and we’re going to see her walk that.”

In the next chapter of the crime series, Dexter has to deal with his sister Deb who caught him killing Travis in the season 6 finale. According to lead actor Michael C. Hall, the finding brings a game changer in the story.

“Without a doubt, it’s the most fundamentally game-changing development that we’ve had,” the titular character depicter said. “One of the things we’ve always been able to count on is that Dexter’s secret is his own, and it’s not anymore.”

“[Deb] finding out does make an endgame feel a little more palpable and imminent,” he added how the story arc would be a proper way to begin the end of the show. “The plan is to do this season and a final eighth season. To really tell this story of the two of them negotiating their relationship in this new landscape requires that much time.”

Agreeing with Hall, Buck who also serves as executive producer for the show added, “We knew we would always eventually tell the story, but because it so dramatically changes the nature of the story, we didn’t want to consider it until we were closing in.”

During the panel, Hall and Jennifer Carpenter also responded to criticism that season 6 was the worst of the show. Carpenter said, “If you had asked that question before we shot a single frame this season, it might have hurt my feelings… I’m really excited about showing you what we’ve done.”

“Whatever your opinion about the ranking the seasons, Dexter is never more compelling than when he is in trouble,” Hall added, claiming that the upcoming season would top the previous installment. “And he’s never been in deeper trouble than he is now.”

‘Modern Family’ Young Stars Also Seeking Salary Raises

After the adult stars of “Modern Family” settled their contract dispute with 20th Century Fox Television, the young cast members of the show are now seeking salary raises. Words are, Sarah Hyland, Nolan Gould, Rico Rodriguez and Ariel Winter will begin their negotiations with the studio this week.

Sources tell The Hollywood Reporter that representatives for the child actors will be seeking big raises for their clients in exchange for adding an eighth season onto their seven-season contracts. Though so, their negotiations are not expected to be as intense as the adult stars’ and won’t likely cause a delay to the production of season 4, which will start Monday, July 30.

It is also said that Gould, Rodriguez and Winter have considered to follow the adult stars’ strategy by banding together in the salary negotiations. Hyland, meanwhile, is likely to negotiate separately since she allegedly has already made more than the other young stars.

As for Aubrey Anderson-Emmons who joined the cast in the fourth season as Mitchell and Cameron’s daughter Lily, she may not receive a big raise since she has a smaller role on the show.

Supernatural – Season 8 – Casting News – DJ Qualls Returning

While promoting his new show on FX, Legit, at the TCA Summer Press Tour, Qualls confirmed he’ll be heading back to Vancouver in a few weeks for another adventure as supernatural hunter, Garth Fitzgerald IV.

“I’ll go back to Supernatural in a couple of weeks. It’s one of my favorite shows to moonlight on. Jared Padalecki is a really good buddy of mine and also they wrote the part for me. ”

And that’s kind of an honor when somebody calls you and says, Hey, we wrote this for you. You probably are not going to do it. I read it and I said, No, this is funny and I’d love to do it. And I’m having a great time.

The fans on that show are insane. I did one [a convention] in Birmingham, England. And literally people would just line up and hug you and cry. And it’s like, I am so boring in real life. Legit is a new FX comedy starring Australian comic Jim Jefferies, Dan Bakkedahl and DJ Qualls. Legit will be on the FX schedule in January of 2013.

The Office – Season 9 – Jake Lacy becomes new regular

Better With You actor Jake Lacy is joining NBC’s The Office as a series regular next season.

Not a whole lot is known about Lacy’s role, but sources say he’ll play a new hire named Pete who’s also a potential love interest for Erin (Ellie Kemper). In describing his new gig to a cute barista in a rough-draft scene, Pete quips, “Not only am I the new guy who has to do the coffee runs, but it’s a paper company, so pretty much a non-stop adrenaline rush.”

Lacy was going to star in Fox’s midseason comedy The Goodwin Games next season, but was replaced by T.J. Miller after the pilot was shot. The Office is adding some new characters while saying goodbye next season to B.J. Novak, Mindy Kaling and James Spader. Expect Kaling, who’s launching The Mindy Project on Fox this fall, to have a chance to send off her character on The Office this fall.

CBS in Early Conversations About ‘How I Met Your Mother’ Season 9

CBS is working on extending “How I Met Your Mother” run beyond its upcoming season 8. President of CBS Entertainment Nina Tassler has stated that the network wants a ninth season of the sitcom and has begun negotiations on it.

“They had an incredible year last year and we have a great relationship with Craig [Thomas] and Carter [Bays]. They have a strategic wrap-up to the show. They know we want the show to come back next year,” she said. “We’re not there yet in terms of [renewing HIMYM]. We’re having conversations right now about extending it. We’re in early conversations and we’re pretty optimistic.”

Speaking to TVLine, co-creator Craig Thomas even expressed his optimism that the show could get a tenth season. “It’s not impossible it could go beyond Season 9,” he said, when asked if the possible ninth season would be the last. As for how negotiations for the possible ninth season impact season 8, he admitted that the talks could change his trajectory.

Still, he added, “But right now, the thing that we know to be true is we have this year and no deal for next year. So we have to proceed as though this could be the last year of HIMYM. Hopefully we will know soon. Basically, we couldn’t possibly know soon enough. But we’d be thrilled to tell either story – either wrap it up this year or to tell another chapter of this story. We don’t know yet which way it’s going to go.”

Speaking about the forthcoming chapter, Thomas said there would be story arcs which allow Marshall and Lily to still gather around Ted, Robin and Barney although they have entered parenthood. “We’re going to tell a story figuring out, ‘Who’s our babysitter? Who’s our nanny? Who’s going to help us with this?” he spilled.

“There’s a cool and meaningful answer to that question that we’ll see Marshall and Lily arrive at in the first few episodes,” Thomas continued teasing. “It will free them up to have at least the occasional beer with the gang. And the gang will consider [the baby] the sixth member of this group. It’s going to be very sweet.”

HIMYM season 8 will premiere Monday, September 24 at 8 P.M. on CBS. Ashley Williams will return for a multi-episode arc as Ted’s love interest Victoria, and Michael Trucco will reprise his role as the man who catches Robin’s eyes known only as “Crush”.

Criminal Minds Season 8 Episode 4 – Reid to get Love Interest

It seems like someone has put Morgan’s pick-up tips to good use. Reid (Matthew Gray Gubler) will get a girlfriend on Criminal Minds‘ upcoming eighth season, executive producer Erica Messer tells TVGuide.com.

“It’s finally happening! He’s gonna have a love interest,” she says. “It will be a little arc and it’s gonna be good.”

The lucky lady, who has yet to be cast, will be introduced in Episode 4. “They met because of a love of an author and they’re both fans,” Messer says. “I would say the idea of her is introduced first and we go from there.”

But how will everyone’s favorite, socially inept genius fare when it comes to matters of the heart? Not very well, if you ask Gubler. “I don’t know much at this point, but I’m dubious about all of this,” he says. “Could you imagine Reid dating? I’m curious to see where this goes. He doesn’t know how to date!”

Though that may be true, Messer believes it’s time to go there with Reid, who shared a pool smooch with actress Lila Archer (guest star Amber Heard), whom he was protecting, way back in Season 1.

“I can promise you this,” she says, “It will be like no other relationship on TV.”

Gossip Girl Will Rerun on Style Network

Before the summer is over, Gossip Girl will be back in style. Or on Style, we should say really.

The Style Network announced today that it has acquired the off-network rights to this CW hit. It will begin showing reruns on August 15 from 8-11 p.m. and will air a three-hour block of episodes every Wednesday night.

It will also air a marathon on Labor Day, September 3.

‘Dancing with the Stars’ to Let Viewers Pick One Returning Star

Just days before the official announcement is made, rumor is floating around regarding who will be competing in the “Dancing with the Stars” all-stars edition. Entertainment Weekly learns that there is a twist in the casting process as ABC will reportedly let audience pick one of the returning stars.

When ABC unveils the cast line-up on Friday, July 27, the network will also announce three names whom fans can vote to get the final spot on the show. Words are, Carson Kressley, who was one of the most entertaining contestants in season 13, will be among those who can be chosen.

As for the other possible contestants, Melissa Rycroft from season 8, Joey Fatone from season 4 and Pamela Anderson from season 10 are said to be some of them who nab the spots without going through the viewers’ vote stage.

Pro dancer Maksim Chmerkovskiy recently hinted that he would return to the “DWTS” ballroom in the next installment. “I can’t wait to see who I’m going to get. I’m going to have a great time,” he told Celebuzz. “This is going to be the first time we don’t start from scratch but pick it up where you left off.”

“The advantage is going to be with the couple that was on a recent season,” the Ukraine-born dancer gushed. “If you’re going to be paired with someone coming back from season 2, he or she is probably going to have a bit of a harder time getting back into it than someone who was on the last season.”

It starts with a harpoon in his chest, before he eventually is almost entirely robotic. He eventually wants to get a robot brain installed by Professor Farnsworth, who digs up the brain of the psychopathic stabbing robot Roberto, who was killed after he threatened to steal LaBarbara’s skin.

Hermes eventually gets his robot brain, though his human brain is put back in his old body that Zoidberg kept and was using as a ventriloquist’s dummy. Roberto is felled when he tries to eat Hermes’ skin, which melts him when it proves to be too spicy thanks to years of LaBarbara’s Jamaican cooking.

Once Upon A Time – Season 2 -Sinqua Walls cast as Sir Lancelot

Sinqua Walls, who as of late has been recurring on MTV’s Teen Wolf as pack member Boyd, has been cast on ABC’s fantastical sophomore drama as Sir Lancelot, TVLine has learned exclusively.

I’m hearing that Once Upon a Time will introduce Lancelot as a “sword for hire with nothing to lose,” a onetime proud member of King Arthur’s Round Table who has since been banished, tearing him away from his true love (Queen Guinevere, as lore tells us).

Already for Season 2 (premiere date TBA), Once has cast the roles of Sleeping Beauty and Mulan, and promoted Emilie de Ravin (aka “Belle”) and Meghan Ory (Ruby/Red Riding Hood) to series regular status.

Though unconfirmed by ABC, sources tell me Walls will appear in at least two episodes as Lancelot. The actor’s other TV credits include Friday Night Lights (playing Jamarcus Hall), The Secret Life of the American Teenager and Pair of Kings.

‘Glee’ Promotes Chord Overstreet to Regular, Casts Puck’s Half-Brother in Season 4

While some actors will be appearing less in “Glee” season 4 than in the previous seasons, Chord Overstreet will have more scenes in the upcoming season. It has been reported that the Sam Evans depicter is upped to a series regular when he returns for the forthcoming chapter.

Beside Evans and the remaining members such as Tina, Artie and Blaine, the New Directions will welcome a new addition. “Blue Lagoon: The Awakening” star Jacob Artist has been cast in the role of Jake, Puck’s younger half-brother who auditions for the glee club, but his bad-boy attitude could land him in trouble.

Also joining the cast is Dean Geyer, who recently played security guard Mark Reynolds on “Terra Nova“. The Aussie hunk is cast as Brody Weston who is described as a handsome upperclassman at NYADA. His arrival may create a possible love rivalry for Finn since Brody shows an interest in Rachel.

Prior to recruiting Artist and Geyer, “Glee” has nabbed Sarah Jessica Parker and Kate Hudson to appear in multi-episode arcs. Executive producer Ian Brennan recently revealed that the “Sex and the City” alumna would play a frazzled, eccentric and hilarious character who is “running Vogue.com,” while the “Bride Wars” actress would portray Cassandra July, Rachel’s dance teacher at NYADA.

“Glee” will return with the fourth season starting Thursday, September 13 at 9 P.M. on FOX. The first episode is titled “The New Rachel” and will see Lea Michele’s alter ego singing a Barbra Streisand song.

‘Vampire Diaries’ Boss Julie Plec Dishes on Elena’s ‘First Hot Vampire Sex’

“The Vampire Diaries” fans might not want to miss every single episode of season 4 because there will be some first-time moments for Elena. Beside trying on her new power as a vampire, the Mystic Falls beauty will engage in her “first hot vampire sex” early in the season, so executive producer Julie Plec spills.

Nina Dobrev chimes in on her character’s sexy act, “It’s like she’s going through puberty and vampire sex is going to feel like her first time.” While keeping the identity of Elena’s male partner a secret, Plec hints at the possible lucky guy, “Elena saved Matt’s life, so he’s going to end up paying it forward in a very peculiar way.”

Dishing on another raunchy scene in the upcoming season, Michael Trevino reveals there will be a “big, spontaneous, explosion of joy with some kissing” when Caroline first meets Taylor again, after she thought he died. “Shirts are flying off in our first episode back,” the actor goes on teasing.

Meanwhile, Jeremy may get a new love interest with the arrival of new character April, who will be portrayed by Grace Phipps, in the second episode. Family Guy & The Cleveland Show – Sofia Vergara to guest

Sofia Vergara is about to be romantically linked to… Peter Griffin? The Modern Family star will cameo as his fantasy love interest in an upcoming episode of Family Guy, EW has learned. In a cutaway gag featuring Peter as a telenovela lothario, Vergara voices his sassy (and, yes, buxom) lover. And that’s not her only role in the episode; she plays a woman selling roses in a restaurant where Quagmire is “wooing” Peter so that Peter will do him a big favor.

In addition, Vergara will pop up this season on another animated Fox comedy, The Cleveland Show. She’ll be voicing a character named Tia Sofia, who tries to talk Cleveland into hosting a quinceañera for Cleveland Jr.’s 15th birthday.

Family Guy‘s 11th season, which kicks off Sept. 30, also boasts contributions from Johnny Depp, Ryan Reynolds, Elizabeth Banks, and Kellan Lutz. ‘Modern Family’ Main Cast Sues Producer Following Contract Dispute

The salary dispute between “Modern Family” cast and 20th Century Fox Television has turned uglier. After rejecting the offer made by the producer, Sofia Vergara, Jesse Tyler Ferguson, Eric Stonestreet, Julie Bowen and Ty Burrell have filed a lawsuit against the company.

According to the complaint filed in Los Angeles Superior Court, the five actors claim Fox violates the “7-Year Rule” under California Labor Code section 2855 (a). The lawsuit says, “That provision dictates that contracts to render personal service may not be enforced beyond seven years from the commencement of service under it.”

Ed O’Neill, who was the only adult actor not taking part in the initial filing, has reportedly decided to join his co-stars in the lawsuit. The Jay Pritchett depicter is negotiating his contract separately and has been paid more than other cast members, but he is said to have joined the suit out of solidarity.

Vergara, Ferguson, Stonestreet, Bowen and Burrell, who allegedly made $65,000 an episode in the third season, were offered $150,000 per episode plus a $50,000 per episode bonus for season 4, $200,000 per episode for season 5, $225,000 for season 6, and up to $325,000 for an anticipated season 9, sources said. However, they reportedly want bigger paychecks, believing the show has been a money machine for ABC.

Due to the contract dispute, a table read which was scheduled for Tuesday at 11:30 A.M. was canceled at the last minute. An insider said O’Neill was the only adult actor who showed up for the script session.

‘Pretty Little Liars’ Season 3 Episode 8 Sneak Peeks: Aria’s Unpleasant Encounter With Ezra’s Mother

Aria and Ezra’s romance has gone through some ups and downs, but it will be further challenged with the arrival of his mother in the next episode of “Pretty Little Liars“. A preview for the said outing sees Aria having an encounter with Ezra’s mother, who seemingly doesn’t consent to their relationship since she worries that Aria will ruin Ezra’s life. Additionally, the meeting makes Aria realizes she knows very little about her boyfriend.

Meanwhile, the girls still try to unlock a mystery that might lead them to all questions they have about “A”. Spencer turns to Caleb for help, and it looks like he will manage to crack into the website mentioned in the latest episode. However, Spencer doubts that Mona wants to help them and questions her motive in giving them the information.

Also in the forthcoming episode, Emily is struggling to deal not only with the loss of Maya, but also the knowledge that someone drugged her “that night” and how that has now affected Paige. As she tries to make amends with Paige and explain the drugged flask, Emily gets more insight into what she did “that night.”

New Teasers for ‘Homeland’ Season 2 Take a Look Back

Showtime has debuted a new promo each to hype up the return of its two shows, “Dexter” and “Homeland“. Still focusing on the aftermath of Deb’s shocking discovery about her brother, the teaser for the crime series offers a flashback to the Bay Harbor Butcher case and hints at a new problem faced by Dexter and Debra now that the pieces start to be put together.

The “Homeland” promo also includes cuts of footage from the previous season, while showing Carrie standing with an intense look. It hints at her struggle to get her memories back, before she remembers the important information she has learned in the first season finale.

“Dexter” season 7 will kick off Sunday, September 30 at 9 P.M. ET on Showtime, followed by the season 2 premiere of “Homeland” at 10 P.M. ET. The former show has tapped “Chuck” alumna Yvonne Strahovski to guest star as Hannah McKay, who will help Miami Metro Homicide in solving some old cases.

‘Dexter’ Casts ‘Heroes’ Alum as Investigative Writer

Santiago Cabrera is going to conduct his own investigation in season 7 of “Dexter“. The Chilean actor will guest star in some episodes of the Showtime thriller series as Ethan Price, a charming investigative writer of true crime books about famous murders. It’s still unknown which case that Price will be investigating.

Previously, the Michael C. Hall-starring drama has nabbed “Chuck” alumna Yvonne Strahovski to play Hannah McKay, a woman with a past that she’s struggled to put behind. She comes into the story as Miami Metro Homicide asks her help in solving some old cases.

Other guest stars in the forthcoming season are Katia Winter who will play a Russian stripper working at a Miami club, Jason Gedrick who will portray the manager of the club, and Ray Stevenson who is cast as the leader of a Russian crime ring determined to find out who killed one of his associates.

“Dexter” season 7 will premiere Sunday, September 30 at 9:00 P.M. on Showtime.

Santiago Cabrera received a nomination at American Latino Media Arts Awards for his portrayal of drug-addled painter Issac Mendez on NBC’s “Heroes“. He also played Sir Lancelot on BBC’s “Merlin” and landed a role as Robert Forster on the short-lived drama “Alcatraz“.
