How I Met Your Mother – Season 8 – Joe Lo Truglio to guest star

Get ready to meet Marshall’s other boss: Joe Lo Truglio.
The Reno 911! alum will guest-star on How I Met Your Mother this season as the founding partner Honeywell of Marshall’s law firm Honeywell and Cootes.
Lo Truglio will appear in at least two episodes during November sweeps for a trial that was first referenced last season involving a multi-billion dollar corporation that polluted a lake. At the time, Cootes (Martin Short) accepted a $24,000 settlement from the corporation, angering Marshall (Jason Segel). Previously announced returning guest star Joe Manganiello will appear in the same episodes as well, reprising his role as Marshall’s law school buddy Brad.

How I Met Your Mother – Season 8 – Thomas Lennon to guest star

EW has learned exclusively that former Reno 911! star Thomas Lennon has been cast as Klaus, the man who was set to marry Victoria (Ashley Williams) before she left him at the altar to run away with Ted (Josh Radnor) in the season 7 finale of How I Met Your Mother.

When the new season picks up, Victoria and Ted are driving off into the sunset when Ted learns a terrible truth: Victoria didn’t leave her abandoned fiancĂ© a note!
“Ted Mosby is one of the only guys who can say [he's] been left at the altar and been left for at the altar. He’s been on both sides of a crazy equation,” exec producer Craig Thomas explained to EW during the Television Critics Association press tour. “But we try to write even the crazy turns as real as we can, and the real of it is if you were Ted Mosby you’d say, ‘Victoria, I’m turning this car around. You’ve got to leave this poor bastard Klaus a note.’”
Since his six years on Reno 911! as Lt. Jim Dangle, Lennon has appeared in a number of television shows and movies, including Children’s Hospital, New Girl, and What to Expect When You’re Expecting.
Lennon’s casting comes on the heels of news that Joe Manganiello will return to the show for an arc this season, which kicks off Sept. 24 on CBS.

How I Met Your Mother – Season 8 – Joe Manganiello returning

True Blood man-beast Joe Manganiello is making a return trip to How I Met Your Mother this fall.

TVLine has learned exclusively that the Magic Mike actor has signed on to reprise his role as Marshall’s law school chum Brad in two episodes of the CBS hitcom.
Viewers last saw Brad in Season 5 when he went on an awkward hockey-themed date with Robin. It’s unclear what brings him back into the fold, but last week HIMYM co-creator Craig Thomas told TVLine that the show’s eighth season would feature “a couple of familiar faces coming back,” including the previously reported Michael Trucco as Robin’s crush and Ashley Williams as Victoria.
“There’s going to be a few more [returnees] from deeper into the past as we near the end of the series,” he added. “Just funny people we always wanted to write for more and play with more.”
HIMYM returns with Season 8 on Sept. 24.

CBS in Early Conversations About ‘How I Met Your Mother’ Season 9

CBS is working on extending “How I Met Your Mother” run beyond its upcoming season 8. President of CBS Entertainment Nina Tassler has stated that the network wants a ninth season of the sitcom and has begun negotiations on it.

“They had an incredible year last year and we have a great relationship with Craig [Thomas] and Carter [Bays]. They have a strategic wrap-up to the show. They know we want the show to come back next year,” she said. “We’re not there yet in terms of [renewing HIMYM]. We’re having conversations right now about extending it. We’re in early conversations and we’re pretty optimistic.”

Speaking to TVLine, co-creator Craig Thomas even expressed his optimism that the show could get a tenth season. “It’s not impossible it could go beyond Season 9,” he said, when asked if the possible ninth season would be the last. As for how negotiations for the possible ninth season impact season 8, he admitted that the talks could change his trajectory.

Still, he added, “But right now, the thing that we know to be true is we have this year and no deal for next year. So we have to proceed as though this could be the last year of HIMYM. Hopefully we will know soon. Basically, we couldn’t possibly know soon enough. But we’d be thrilled to tell either story – either wrap it up this year or to tell another chapter of this story. We don’t know yet which way it’s going to go.”

Speaking about the forthcoming chapter, Thomas said there would be story arcs which allow Marshall and Lily to still gather around Ted, Robin and Barney although they have entered parenthood. “We’re going to tell a story figuring out, ‘Who’s our babysitter? Who’s our nanny? Who’s going to help us with this?” he spilled.

“There’s a cool and meaningful answer to that question that we’ll see Marshall and Lily arrive at in the first few episodes,” Thomas continued teasing. “It will free them up to have at least the occasional beer with the gang. And the gang will consider [the baby] the sixth member of this group. It’s going to be very sweet.”

HIMYM season 8 will premiere Monday, September 24 at 8 P.M. on CBS. Ashley Williams will return for a multi-episode arc as Ted’s love interest Victoria, and Michael Trucco will reprise his role as the man who catches Robin’s eyes known only as “Crush”.

‘How I Met Your Mother’ Boss Teases Twists and Turns That Are Built Into Barney’s Wedding

The mystery surrounding Barney’s future bride on “How I Met Your Mother” has been unveiled, but fans have not seen how he ends up deciding that
Robin is the one for him. Confirming that the wedding bells will indeed ring for the couple, executive producer Craig Thomas teases that their path to the chapel is not a smooth one.

“There’s going to be twists and turns built into that day,” he told TVLine. For example, viewers won’t see Barney and Robin together immediately after this. “They’re too tangled up in other things,” Thomas reasoned. “We’ll show you how that [new] relationship ends up leading her back to Barney,” he added, promising that Robin’s new love interest will be introduced “right away.”

While gushing that the wedding day “is going to be full of enough other surprises,” he said the show won’t end with Ted meeting the titular mother at the nuptials. “There will be more story after [the wedding day],” he added before mentioning what would be addressed next, “What are Barney and Robin like married? What happens with that marriage?”

Of how Ted meets the mother after he and Victoria ran off together, Thomas said Victoria helps Ted to close “the last couple doors in his mind that he has to close to really be ready to meet the mother.” He further pointed out, “One of [the doors] was Robin.”

How I Met Your Mother Review: Two Great Beavers....

The first time I watched this week’s episode, I was left wanting. But at some point during my second viewing, while writing this recap, I caught a case of - dare I say it?!? - Beaver Fever.

Barney found a video of Robin’s TV show and showed it to the gang. What was supposed to be a kid’s show came off more like a USA Network Up All Night soft-core porno.

Nicole Scherzinger on HIMYM

Loved the shout-out to the metric system when the Space Teen’s ship was shown “1,000,000 Kilometers from Earth.” Also, amazing cameo by the Omnibot 2000. Where did the creators even find one of those relics? I thought they were all lost or destroyed following the North American video game crash of 1983.

I could have watched Robin Sparkles and her sexy Keytar playing sidekick Jessica Glitter “brace for turbulence” all day. Bless you, Wayne the camera guy.

I really appreciated Marshall’s nod to You Can’t Do That On Television. I would have loved to see them work in a references to Moose and Alisdair or at the very least Barth the chef, but all in all a moment.

The casting department could not have picked a Canadian celebrity with a better name than Alan Thicke to be the one who yelled out things like, “to the joystick” and “don’t stop now, almost there!” When he put his hands behind his head while Robin and Jessica did multiplication problems, I just about fell off the couch.

The scene where Ted and Barney tried not to laugh while Alan Thicke asked how much wood he would need to keep both Robin and Jessica’s beavers fed all weekend long was epic. I smell Emmy for Thicke, eh?

Glitter and Sparkles

Lily did look adorable as she cried, but Marshall stole the moment when he exclaimed, “for crying out loud you broke up with Robin?”

Catch All New Episodes How I Met Your Mother

As much as I was left “Punchy” drunk by Ted’s friend from Cleveland, I did find his “Times Square is da bomb” line funny. That and Barney’s reality show, elimination catch phrase montage, made for a solid scene at MacLaren’s. Sashay Away!

Teenage Jessica Glitter, with her teased out hair and eyeglasses, was way hotter than Rangers Organist Jessica. Did it seem weird or just downright crazy how Lily told her that she and Marshall were “about to get pregnant?”

Sadly, a second appearance by Omnibot could not salvage the brutal final scene at the Hoser Hut, but just like “two beavers are better than one,” any How I Met Your Mother episode is better than none. I now present my favorite quotes from the installment:

Robin: Look, I hate most babies, but your baby; I'm going to love that kid so much. I'm going to pick it up and everything. |
Robin Sparkles: Hey Jessica, how's your beaver.
Jessica Glitter: Great! How's your beaver?
Robin Sparkles: Busy as ever! |
Barney: Space? Teens? Is this a porno?!?! |
Marshall: Oh you're wearing a flower.
Barney: Thank You!
Marshall: I didn't compliment, just observed. |
Barney: He has got to go, you need to be like you are the weakest link goodbye! Punchy, the tribe has spoken. Please pack up your knives and go. Your work of art, didn't work for me. You're times up. I have to ask you to leave the mansion. You must leave the chateau. Your tour ends here. You've been chopped! You've been evicted from the Big Brother house. Your desert just didn't measure up. Sashay away! Give me your jacket and leave Hell's kitchen! You did not get a rose. You have been eliminated from the race. You are no longer in the running to be America's Next Top Model. You're fired. Auf Wiedersehen.
