Michael Clarke Duncan, nominated for an Academy Award for his role in the 1999 film "The Green Mile," died Monday morning at age 54, according to a representative for his family.
Duncan "suffered a myocardial infarction on July 13 and never fully recovered," a written statement from Joy Fehily said.
Clarke died at a Los Angeles hospital where he had been since having the heart attack more than seven weeks ago.
According to TMZ, it was Duncan's girlfriend Omarosa Manigault-Stallworth, a reality star and former contestant on "The Apprentice," who had acted quickly and provided lifesaving efforts when he had the heart attack.
Most recently he was on the TV series, "The Finder," on the Fox network.
His co-star Mercedes Masohn tweeted: "Today is a sad day. Michael Clark Duncan passed away this morning. Known for his moving performance in The Green Mile. RIP MCD. You'll b missed."
One of his co-stars in that film was Vivica A. Fox.
"My heart is shocked and saddened!! RIP Micheal Clark Duncan. U were the most gentle giant and the most gracious of a man! U wont b 4gotten! " she tweeted.
The 18-year-old actor – who plays werewolf Jacob Black in the vampire saga – admits the level of fame and attention he has received because of the vampire franchise was a huge surprise.
He said: "I just met the director and had no idea what I was getting myself into."
However, the teenage star insists he has no regrets about any of his time in the movie series and is delighted with how his career is panning out.
He added: "It's been great from then on".
Taylor – who is expected to make over $25 million for 'Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn', which will be split into two movies – also praised his "supportive" family, saying that they help to keep his feet on the ground.
He said: "I'm definitely thankful to have a supportive family, I wouldn't have been able to do it without them."
The actor recently admitted he still lives at home with his parents, and is expected to help out around the house.
He said: "I help out with the lawn, garbage, dishes".
Even when he is away filming, Taylor's parents don't let him off his duties when he returns to the family home.
He joked: "When I come back, I have extra mowing to do."

2. Larry Crowne – Tom Hanks’ second directorial debut has massive shoes to fill. “That Thing You Do!” remains one of my all-time favorite films, and the premise behind Hanks’ next picture sounds modern, relevant and compelling.
1. We Bought a Zoo – Cameron Crowe has to rebound after the mediocre “Elizabethtown,” and teaming with Matt Damon to tell the story of a man who moves his family to rural England to run a zoo sounds like a step in the right direction.
And that doesn’t even touch on “Cowboys & Aliens,” “Cars 2,” the “Harry Potter” conclusion, Terrence Malick’s “The Tree of Life,” “Moneyball,” Martin Scorsese’s “Hugo Cabret” in 3D, Steven Spielberg’s “War Horse” … yeah, 2011 sounds like it’s going to be an exciting year.

They were then to attract Atlas Entertainment and Vertigo Entertainment who then were able to get Warner Bros. interested. Fox, who distributed the original movie, was offered the project first but passed and Warners said “yes.”
