The behind-the-scenes gossip emerging from the set of the Twilight films is so juicy that it's apparently inspired the storylines on the latest episodes of Gossip Girl. Warning: spoilers ahead! In Gossip Girl's third season — yet to premiere on Australian TV — fans are introduced to Olivia Burke (played by guest star Hilary Duff), a college student and movie star who's shot a vampire movie called Endless Nights.
Astute viewers will note that the title "Endless Nights" is more than a little similar to "Twilight" and its nocturnally themed sequels.
Still not convinced of the similarities? Well, Olivia's co-star is a dashing fellow called Patrick Robinson (Simon Miller), and the tabloids are convinced that the twosome are a couple.
Sound familiar? In real life, Robert Pattinson — a name that sounds a lot like Patrick Robinson — and Twilight co-star Kristen Stewart are rumoured to be together, though both have repeatedly denied any relationship.
The storyline also sends up Duff's real-life paparazzi woes: In 2005 she was snapped carrying what looked like a condom in her purse, while in a recent Gossip Girl episode, the titular blogger caught Olivia taking condoms from a New York health centre.
