Ryan Seacrest is staying on “American Idol”
for at least two more years. FOX announced on Monday, April 23 that the
radio personality has inked a new deal, reportedly worth $15 million a
year, to continue his hosting gig on the reality singing competition.
“Ryan
has been with AMERICAN IDOL from the very first day. I can’t imagine
the show without him,” the show’s creator and executive producer Simon
Fuller stated in a press release. “He is the consummate host and an
exemplary professional. Having Ryan continue to be a part of the
AMERICAN IDOL family is great news for everyone.”
Seacrest
himself is “excited” to continue his journey with “American Idol” which
he has hosted for 11 years. “The legions of fans, amazingly talented
contestants, judges, and producers, along with the hard working IDOL
crew, impress me every time we go on air and make hosting the show a
dream job,” the host of “E! News” added.
“I
especially appreciate the support and confidence of Peter Rice, Mike
Darnell and the entire FOX team – as well as the support of everyone at
FremantleMedia North America – and I look forward to continuing our
partnership.”
Seacrest
has a separate deal with NBC Universal, which is close to be finalized
as well. The deal includes the already announced role as part of NBC
team for Olympic games coverage in London this summer.
