‘House M.D.’ Producers Make ‘Painful’ Decision to End Show After Current Season

It’s official; “House M.D.” will call it quits after this season. On Wednesday, February 8, FOX announced that the currently airing eighth season will be the last for the long-running medical drama.

020912 0924 HouseMDPr1 House M.D. Producers Make Painful Decision to End Show After Current Season

“The decision to end the show now, or ever, is a painful one, as it risks putting asunder hundreds of close friendships that have developed over the last eight years,” star Hugh Laurie as well as executive producers David Shore and Katie Jacobs said in a joint statement, “but also because the show itself has been a source of great pride to everyone involved.”

“The producers have always imagined House as an enigmatic creature; he should never be the last one to leave the party. How much better to disappear before the music stops, while there is still some promise and mystique in the air,” they added.

After thanking fans and everyone involved in the making of “House”, they noted, “So, finally, everyone at House will bid farewell to the audience and to each other with more than a few tears, but also with a deep feeling of gratitude for the grand adventure they have been privileged to enjoy for the last eight years. If the show lives on somewhere, with somebody, as a fond memory, then that is a precious feat, of which we will always be proud.”

FOX entertainment president Kevin Reilly released another statement to say, “While it’s with much regret, and a lump in our throats, we respect the decision Hugh, David and Katie have made.” He added, “We wholeheartedly thank them [the 'House' team], and the fans who have supported the show.”

The eighth season finale which will also be the series finale will be shot in April and is currently scheduled to air in May. Some familiar faces may grace the show once again before it bids farewell since creator David Shore once said he wanted former leading lady Lisa Edelstein to return, while Jennifer Morrison has recently expressed her willingness to reprise her role as Cameron.

Modern Family Season 3 Episode 15: Aunt Mommy

Airing Date: February 15, 2012

Aside from our mothers, we are still lucky enough if we also have aunts and uncles to help our parents in taking care of us. It is like having two sets of parents all at the same time. Isn’t that great? See what happens when Aunt Mommy finally gets into the picture of a family when you watch Modern Family Season 3 Episode 15: Aunt Mommy online on its airing schedule on February 15, 2012 here.

This upcoming episode is entitled “Aunt Mommy” but before I reveal to you what will happen during this episode, let me first recall to you the wonderful happenings in last week’s episode of the show. During that time, Phil got really preoccupied in trying to impress his new business partner, Tad (Greg Kinnear), that he was not able to notice what Claire believed was Tad being overtly inappropriate with her. In the meantime, Jay and Gloria allowed Mitchell and Cameron to stay over while their house was being fumigated, and it just turned out four people in their house was already crowded.

I know you weren’t satisfied in the fun and enjoyment that last week’s episode brought you. Don’t worry because another funny episode is yet to come so just wait for the date for you to watch Modern Family Season 3 Episode 15 online. In this upcoming episode, after closing on the sale of a house to Mitch and Cam’s friends, Phil and Claire are going to take the two of them out for a celebratory dinner where they proceed to overindulge in drinks, which leads to some over-sharing, and finally results in waking up the next morning with hung over and begging the question – if you’ll do anything for your family, shouldn’t there still be a line drawn somewhere? Now this episode sounds really intriguing, don’t you think? So you’d better catch this one out before it’s too late.

Two and a Half Men Review: Mary Poppins and Sir Schmidt

Oh, my, this week’s episode of Two and a Half Men was full of carnal interludes, drugs and loyal subjects.

020712 1850 TwoandaHalf1 Two and a Half Men Review: Mary Poppins and Sir Schmidt

Walden and Zoey seemed to hit that dreaded spot in any relationship where everything suddenly becomes boring, but that all became water under the bridge after awhile… provided they visit many more zoos in the future.

I can understand Zoey’s reluctance in saying certain words. After all, she’s British. Those Brits are so formal, looking for better words all the time, trying to replace vulgar ones with others such as frisky and randy. Seriously, Berta hit the proverbial nail on the head by calling her “Mary Poppins.”

She had a little bit of trust issues, but seeing as Walden and her child hit off, it’s safe to say, those worries are long gone now. I do hope their relationship continues to grow stronger.

Indeed, we were treated to a little bit of character development from Zoey in “Duchess of Dull- In-Sack,” as viewers were introduced to her ex- husband, who happens to be 177th in line for the throne and her daughter, Ava. The latter is really sweet, and she gave Walden his new name, “Sir Schmidt,” Her ex, though? A complete douche bag.

This week was a little low on jokes, but Berta, Jake and Eldridge had the best lines of the night. From Jake suggesting that he and Eldridge could be ringers for each other… to finding Berta’s brownies… and Berta’s borderline racist jokes about Poland and shoes… I could not stop laughing. I’m happy to see other characters are getting more screen time, with Alan relegated a bit here, though still produce some chuckles.

All in all, a good episode. I look forward to the return of Judy Greer, while Aston Kutcher looks kind of young with that haircut. I also hope Jake and Eldridge find the real Zoey. Finally: best of luck to Zoey’s ex-husband – that succession line is really long.

‘Kourtney and Kim Take New York,’ Season 2, Episode 4, ‘True Colors’: TV Recap

Uh oh. The show has dragged me in. This episode was entertaining both in a car crash fascination kind of way, Jersey Housewives looking for Chanel in Italy type thing. Also, it was full of people misunderstanding and forgiving if you like that sort of thing.

Scott decides to discover his Judaism, and Kourtney mocks him. Kim alienates her best friend Jonathan, egged on by her mom, when she thinks he’s writing a tell-all about her. Kris has a party while the girls are away, but the scandal is dwarfed by bigger events like Religion and Betrayal.

Mason saying hello to God makes Scott think he should rediscover his Judaism.

Kim and Khloe and Kardashian are going to LA to work on their collection. The boys are staying home in NY. Kris says he might have some friends over and Kourtney says no! No people around Mason’s toys!

Kris Jenner, mommy Kardashian, calls Kim to say her best friend Jonathan is writing a book about her.

Kourtney encourages Kim to have dinner with Jonathan and not bring it up, just ask him what plans he has, and if he doesn’t mention it, it would be shady.

Kim does that and she gets mad when he doesn’t tell her about the book. She wails on him and he doesn’t get a word in, and she leaves.

Kim comes home and tells everyone what happened. It’s a few minutes of how she feels she can’t trust anyone. Cry me a river.

Scott talks to a Rabbi at a kosher restaurant. Over matzoh ball soup, he invites Scott to a learner’s service in Freeport.

In LA, Kim whines to her mother, who says she could sue Jonathan.

Scott goes to synagogue. His yarmulke keeps falling off.

Boring and loud segment of the girls greeting fans in LA as they launch their collecton.

In NY, Kris throws a party. Seriously, it’s like the parents have gone away and they’re having a party. “We’re out of cups, does someone want to drink out of Mason’s baby cup?” he asks. And suddenly Kourtney’s controllingness about how nobody can be around Mason’s toys doesn’t look so controlling.

Scott comes home and is really annoyed.

Kim in LA talks to her mother, who says she just forwarded the proposal for the book and she should read it. OK, so we know now it’s a proposal and not a book. It was called “Make Me An It Girl.” It’s a how-to book which is really flattering to Kim.

And now she’s sorry she went off on him. “What am I supposed to do when someone tells me it’s a tell all?” she says to Kourtney, to justify herself (she could have just talked to him) . “I feel really bad,” she says. And her mother should feel bad for stirring that up, not knowing a real thing about anything and talking lawyers and how awful Jonathan was. “She’s a plotka maker,” says my Mom (Hey Scott: that is Yiddish for “troublemaker”). Jonathan won’t talk to her on the phone. Good for him.

The girls are eagle-eyed. When they come home, Kourtney says “Why do you guys have four bottles of vodka over there?” “What an amateur,” Scott tells the camera.

And oh! Nasty pictures! Kim’s friend has sent her terrible pics from the party!

And now they ask Scott if there was a party. He pretends he threw the party. “I had some work friends over, they brought their wives.” He says “It was totally kosher,” and Kim says “kosher? I don’t know what that means,” which in this context, is hovering on antisemitic but it’s just “Mean Girl” stuff. Could “How to Be a Mean Girl” be the next book up?

Kim talks to Kris about Scott’s sin. He is always smiling in a guilty way. But the way Kris responds Kim looks really on to him.

So Kris owns up to it. And there’s a big family hoo-ha.

Scott talks to Kourtney more about his Judaism. She says “There is no way that Scott is going to risk messing up his hair and wearing his yarmulke.”

Kim knocks on Jonathan’s door. How does she know he’s even there?

He calls her on how she didn’t just ask him, but played this weird game as a test. He doesn’t accept her apology.

Kim talks to Kris and she’s so upset about Jonathan that she’s not even that angry with him anymore. He suggests she read his book and write a good review or forward or blurb.

It worked, Jonathan shows up at the door with a big smile. Kris sent Jonathan the forward.

It is nice to see them smile at each other because even though he was right to be mad aw heck I’m a softie.

And Scott, in his velvet blazer, is trying to put on a Shabbat dinner, while Kourtney looks on wondering “Do you know how to set a table?” He says a tablecloth is part of the tradition. Um, yeah, it’s not.

Then he suddenly says he’s like the worst Jew ever and doesn’t know what he’s doing. “I don’t want to do this,” he says and stalks off, leaving tons of full shopping bags, and candlesticks half full.

But Kourtney is sympathetic, saying he seems so vulnerable. He says her questions have made him feel worse, and she admits she’s been giving him a hard time but now she thinks it’s great. And she says we’ll have a nice dinner and she will help.

“Shabbat Shalom,” he says to Jonathan who it seems is also Jewish.

They all say l’chaim and drink some wine. Jonathan joked about Manischevitz, but it wasn’t, because the bottle was round and everybody knows Manischevitsz comes in square bottles.

Darn. Now I’m involved.

What did you think? Is the Jewish renewal a phase? Will Jonathan ever write his book? Can Kris Jenner ever, ever keep her mouth shut? Leave your thoughts in the comments.

‘Survivor: South Pacific’ Finale: Who Won?

Just like last year, this season of “Survivor” ended up being all about a popular returning player. Like Boston Rob, Coach Wade dominated the game and never seemed in any jeopardy. It was often his vote that determined who would survive and who would go home. But, unlike Rob, Coach was not able to translate that domination and power into a victory.

Instead, Sophie, one of the strongest female competitors in “Survivor” history, managed to win over a jury that thought she was standoffish and distant. In the end, they had to respect ability to compete with the guys in challenges as well as her strategy of who to sit next to at the end. It also probably helped that she shed some pretty genuine tears and seemed to genuinely feel bad about some of what she had done during the game. She and Coach both seemed to play the jury well, especially Coach who appeared to have nothing but enemies on the panel but seemed to win some respect with a fit of real honesty at the end. Albert, the third finalist, was never a contender. His plan to be a friend to all was too transparent and he instead seemed to be a friend to none. Several jury members really seemed to agonize over their votes. Sophie may have beaten Coach 6-3, but the margin may not have reflected how close a competition this was.

You cannot talk about this season without talking about super-”Survivor” Ozzy. Eight people tried to defeat him on Redemption Island… all failed. He got within a whisker of making the finals, and clearly would have won the jury vote in a landslide, but finally lost a challenge and was voted out. The fact that it was Sophie who defeated him probably carried some weight with a jury that wanted to vote for Ozzy, but could not. Sophie was the next best thing, and it made her a million dollars.

Watch Survivor: South Pacific’ Finale Online

All in all, it was a good season of “Survivor.” The contestants seemed to figure out that Redemption Island could be a strategic part of the game and the fans seemed to embrace Redemption more than a season ago when it caused a bit of a fan backlash. After consecutive seasons where returning players, folks who have been on “Survivor” before, have dominated, perhaps it is time for Survivor to again try a field of newbies.

What do you think? Is the “Survivor” magic still there? Will you keep on watching in Season 24? Leave your thoughts in the comments.
